Going Gingham for Spring

DSC_0198editedDSC_0197edited (1)DSC_0204editedDSC_0237editedDSC_0223DSC_0219DSC_0250Details: Gingham Rayon-Twill Shirtdress c/o J.Jill, here | Black suede Over-the-Knee suede boots, similar here |

Happy First Day of Spring! It’s finally here to stay now, right? I am honestly so sick of the cold weather, but I think we’re in the clear, I just checked out the forecast for this week and we’re looking at mild temps and hitting 60-degrees on Saturday! Can we go to the beach yet? Well, it has been difficult for me to shoot in the cold, but this weekend I managed to get some shots in. I was able to bear my legs a bit twith this black and white gingham rayon-twill shirtdress from J.Jill. It’s super comfortable and I styled it with my trusted OTK boots so that I didn’t have to resort to tights. It’s really lightweight and easy to style; I’m excited for things to heat up so I can wear it to the office and even the BEACH! Sometimes gingham can be overwhelming, but when I slipped this on I didn’t find it to be excessive or reminiscent of a picnic blanket–it just works!

Enjoy the spring weather from here on and out, lovelies!

The warm weather last week was such a tease. I was actually convinced that winter was finally over, but boy was I wrong. Yesterday, I tried to get away with wearing just a tee and I was LITERALLY shivering. And while I definitely have to wait to wear a two-piece bathing suit, I think maybe, just maybe I can start wearing co-ord sets like this one from Dresslily. It’s SO comfortable and I really love the white details–it makes it classy. The model on the website shows this set with full-on belly showing, but it’s not necessary. I mean, if you’re into that then go for it, but it looks much better with the higher waisted skirt allowing the top to overlay. It doesn’t feel like I can wear this today, but I think we’re supposed to hit 60-degrees on Wednesday, fingers crossed! I’m completely over wearing chunky knits and puffer vests, so I’m ready to kick off my spring wardrobe with more sets like these. What are your spring wardrobe plans!? Maybe if we talk enough about them the warm weather will stay put!

The weather is finally heating up and I couldn’t be more excited. I mean, it only took untile mid-April (eye roll). While I’m still in a bit of a wardrobe slump, I’m finding my way back and it’s all thanks to my neon coral denim and this ultra soft indigo/denim-esque tunic from J. Jill. We’re in such a funky weather period right now, some days it’s 37 degrees and other it’s 65, it’s so hard to keep up, but I’ve been able to wear this top through it all. I think that’s why I love it so much. I know I won’t be able to wear it into the hotter months, but I think it could serve as a beach coverup for brisk New England beach nights which I canNot wait for. I’ve also found that I’m just not feeling as nourished and healthy as I used to be. I know we’re all scrambling to shed our winter pounds, but I’ve realized that since moving away from home I’m just not eating the way I should. Thus, I sought the help of my fit and healthy roommate and friend to get my butt back into shape. Not only would it be nice to tighten up my buns, but getting on a healthy meal plan will give me some much-needed energy and I may just be able to get myself out of this season transition funk.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my new and improved eats as well as the usual outfit deets!

I may have gotten a bit too cocky about the spring weather being here to stay. It doesn’t look like I’ll be wearing my sunglasses or sleeveless tops for a little while. The forecast calls for rain AND snow, and I’m beginning to regret leaving my chunky knits in Jersey. Thankfully, I didn’t completely lose my mind and kept some necessary sweaters to get me through this brief cold stint. I’ve had this sleeveless brown open cardigan for quite some time now and to be honest, I never knew what to wear with it. I bought it on a whim and didn’t think it through. I layered it over a long white dress once and Josh said I looked like Apostle Paul… so that’s where that went. But when I was home this past weekend, I decided it was time to give it another try. I layered it over my standard jeans and t-shirt and I think it’s just the oomph my go-to look needed. Plus, Josh didn’t have a snarky remark–I guess that means it looks normal? I don’t know about you, but I’m SO ready for the weekend. I’m also kinda relieved that I don’t have any travel plans, just looking forward to a relaxing weekend staying put and I think is look allows for just that. Unfortunately, I’ll have to swap out my short tee for a long one… but c’est la vie I guess…

Happy Friday!

The beautiful unseasonably warm weather had me downright giddy this weekend! It felt so good to feel the warm sun on my face and it really felt like everyone started to come alive. It’s impossible to be in a bad mood in 60-degree weather, in fact, even the cranky South Boston natives were smiling. And not only did I enjoy outdoor drinks at my favorite local spot, but I also took this as an opportunity to try out some spring looks. As you know, I’ve been in quite a rut lately (wardrobe related), and I think the weather brought me out of my funk. I even dusted off my trusted white matchstick denim pants and complemented them with this vibrant pink/red mixed-stitch pullover. As someone who typically sticks to neutrals all winter long, it feels so good to throw on some of my favorite spring colors. Many people tend to stay away from bold colors, but I think it’s important to mix it up and jump out of your comfort zone–it’ll only help your wardrobe. It’s true, what they say, all good things come to an end and even though we’re expected to experience some heavy rain and potential sleet (gasp) the next couple days, at least, we have a beautiful weekend of sunshine to reminisce over until Friday.

Happy Monday and only 4 days until Friday!

The weather is warming up and I couldn’t be happier. Recently, I’ve been thinking of all of the great things that come with warmer weather. Coatless walks, beach weekends, sunburns and the smell of the ocean. The average person sets goals or “resolutions” in January, but I like to set mine once spring begins. Everything becomes alive again in the spring and there’s a surge of positive energy that seems to touch everyone in its path. While I have my intentions set for spring, I need to get my wardrobe in motion. Pastel colors, airy tops, and sweaters give freedom and new life to the dark and dull shades of winter. It’s only appropriate that this J.Jill ombre sweater is the first knit I deem a spring staple. The light pastel, lavenders, pinks, and blues make it transitional and the perfect companion to my distressed white and blue denim. If you’re not thinking about your spring outfits just yet, at least, start setting some intentions for the start of the greatest season.

Okay, I know that I’ve been going on about fall, but I wanted to share the spring/summer look that got away. I know it sounds crazy, but right before we fully embrace the colder months, let’s have one last look at the bright florals and pastels we’ve so desperately tried to hold on to. This brightly colored floral waisted skirt (c/o Relaxfeel Fashion) is a staple I wish I had earlier in the spring/summer seasons. It’s a classic, and  reminds me of one that June Clever would consider wearing. Channeling June, I paired it with a more conservative top. Normally, I would’ve donned a sleeveless crop top but I think this is much more appropriate given the current temps. And if you haven’t  checked out Relaxfeel Fashion by now, you most definitely need to. Their clothing is reasonably priced and the quality is exceptional (not even kidding). Cheers to florals, and a summer well spent… ciao for now!

Going to work after a long weekend is the ABSOLUTE worst. Fortunately, I have something to day dream about since my weekend consisted of  a beach breeze, hot dogs and wine. I mentioned in my last post that  I’ve been super stressed lately, there are decisions to be made and so much to get into place that it’s hard to enjoy all of the beauty in my life. Sometimes you need to just vent and talk it out and that’s exactly what I was able to do this weekend, as a result I’m feeling refreshed and at ease. So to complement those new found feelings I decided to take it to my wardrobe with this Pure Jill ombre kimono. The ocean hues coupled with its woven linen material makes it exceptionally breezy and relaxed. With something so comfortable it as a no brainer to pair it with boyfriend jeans, they’re right up there on my comfort scale next to yoga pants. And we can’t deny that a cute and easy shoe is hard to come by; it’s true, these Franco Sarto taupe flats have stolen my heart this summer I haven’t been able to wear anything else.

Now, let the day dreaming begin–Happy Tuesday!

The weekend is my favorite excuse to eat what I want, and while those frappucinos and waffle fries are TOTALLY worth it, the Monday morning bloat is not. I mean, Mondays are hard enough, so I decided to embrace the bloat while still looking cute, in this Airism striped lounge dress. It’s as comfy as a night shirt, but it’s just as feminine as a sundress. City summers are hot, sticky and quite truthfully disgusting, having a a light loose fitting dress is ideal. UNIQLO’s Airism line is equipped with DRY technology plus anti-odor and anti-microbial features that are designed to keep you fresh, dry and comfortable—can you say PERFECTION!? It’s absolutely necessary  to stock up on some Airism camis and dresses this summer, if this weekend’s weather is any indication of the summer we’re going to have you’ll be so glad you did.

While I’m a huge fan of the all white trend, I do love my pale pinks and grays; In fact they’ve become my go-to color palette this season. I especially love this soft gray textured moto, it is my ultimate transitional piece thus far. I’m actually starting to think my Abercrombie & Fitch denim jacket may have met its match—there’s some serious competition now. I’ve been wearing it almost as much, since it’s so easily worn with a pair of  shorts or a comfy maxi–it’s rich texture and color screams sophistication.
