Color blocking and all white are two of my favorite spring/summer trends this season, which is why I decided to kick off this first (luke) warm week of  spring with this look. This white oxford is a beloved staple of mine and in an effort to give this look some dimension and contrast I layered on this lightweight Ann Taylor color block tweed jacket. It is the ideal transitional piece— it’s neutral colors complement a variety pieces; it can be paired with colors as dark as black and grey to colors as light as pastel pinks and whites.  Guys… things are starting to heat up, spring is here, and I think it’s safe to say we can finally begin wearing our spring lights and brights–I’m SERIOUS this time!

It’s finally Friday and a rainy one at that. On days like today I’m burnt out trying to figure out what to wear; seriously it’s been a long week and I just need a break. On days like today I have no choice but to resort to my “adult onesie”—yup, that’s right my cotton blend jumpsuit from Banana Republic—it’s as comfy as my pjs but as cute as a LBD (no joke!). And in an effort to dress it up I layered on the perfect lightweight outerwear piece,  Ann Taylor black and white print coat. I’m not typically an animal print girl, and I’ll admit at first sight I was seeing Cruella Deville, but there’s no denying this coat is a necessity. Its black cheetah spots have tints of shine making it glitter while you move, and its leather collar gives it that sophisticated edge–just what a girl needs on a grey day. While I’d much rather be curled up in bed, an adult onesie on a Friday will just have to do.

Well, it’s Monday again and aside from the fact that it is unbearably difficult to get out of bed, it’s equally as difficult to pick out an outfit. I have been struggling with this cold weather, the mornings are frigid and the Mother Nature’s been paying tricks. Fortunately, I have found the perfect pant to combat the agonizing Monday morning outfit struggle. These J. Jill tencel banded-hem pants are comfortable, casual, but office appropriate. They’re lightweight making it an easy transition into spring, yet will still be acceptable in the early months of fall. Not only do they have a drawstring waist, but they even have POCKETS; it’s like wearing extra fancy sweats!  My slouchy peach Gap sweater complemented the navy pants, and my two-toned pumps were a considerate effort to dress up my lax look.

As you know, lately I’ve been working  tirelessly on organizing my spring wardrobe. While it has proven to be difficult with this uncooperative weather,  I think I’ve found the perfect transitional sweater. This Mixed Media pullover  from J. Jill is AMAZING and has the ability to combat the fickle weather since it’s lightweight AND cozy. The woven navy and white striped underlay makes it easy to achieve that “layered” look without the bulky hassle and sweat that comes with layering. I complemented it with a pair of light coral denim jeans that I scored at Marshall’s last spring (sorry guys!; a similar link is provided) and gave myself some height with these two-tone Jessica Simpson pumps.

Spring, I know you’re there, come on don’t be shy!

I have been flirting with my spring wardrobe lately and been patiently waiting for Mother Nature to make up her mind. I finally decided I couldn’t wait any longer for her to get it together, and decided to break in my  new reversible Kora Rae, Lupita style crop top. I absolutely love its fit and reversibility— on one side it’s a faint pink/peach color as shown and on the other its a grey/beige shade.  Both are practical and easy to style, making this my go to crop top of the season. In an effort to combat the cold, I layered it over a creme lace long sleeved crop top and decided to bite the bullet and show some leg with with my ivory H&M skirt.

Mother Nature, I think it’s time to throw in the towel and let the sun prevail, we’ve suffered enough.

We made it to March, bring on the flip flops and crop tops! Okay okay,  I’m jumping ahead, but now it’s really time to start planning your spring wardrobe. Ditch those muted colors that blend in with the snowy backdrop, and pull out your vibrant spring faves. I’ve been itching to wear this neon yellow blazer, it’s been hanging in my closet for months so I finally decided it was time to give it some love. I paired it with my boyfriend jeans  from J. Jill—I know what you’re thinking, J. Jill doesn’t necessarily cater to my demographic, BUT these are incredible and are available in petite sizes, no less. I added a final touch of sass with these studded pumps from Lulu’s, and now I think I’m ready for spring— well at least for 42 degree weather on this Monday.

Happy Monday loves!
