For as long as long as I can remember a denim jacket has always been a wardrobe staple. One of my most memorable denim jackets would have to be my mid-wash Abercrombie and Fitch one. I think I got it in 6th or 7th grade and I wore it through college… I actually still have it and it’s not off-trend. I still love it, but I ended up adding a couple more denim jackets to the mix. One is a more form-fitted stretch denim jacket from Ann Taylor and the other is one I haven’t been able to stop wearing. This STS Blue denim jacket from Nordstrom Rack. I love this one because it is somewhat oversized so I’m able to layer it over chunky knits, which is key for these chillier fall months. I also love its classic blue wash and I’ve been wearing it with black denim, leggings, sweatpants, all my jeans etc. I don’t even care if I look like a walking blueberry–I love it! I’m a HUGE sweatshirt, sweater, chunky knit person, but lately, I love treating this jacket as my go-to sweater/cardigan/etc. You can be sure I’ll be wearing this all fall long until I have to dig up a down puffer coat.

Those who know me well, know my obsession with CW’s Riverdale. Honestly, at first, I refused to watch it because I assumed it would be stupid/cheesy, and it is definitely a little on the cheesy side, but I love the cast and the thriller-ish storyline. It’s a feel-good show with relatable characters and I consider it my guiltiest and almost unhealthiest pleasure. So, last night, for the premiere, I had a few of my friends over to watch and host a Pop’s Diner themed get-together. It included goodies like homemade cheeseburger slider, crockpot mac and cheese, corn dogs and crinkle fries. The food was delicious, and the premiere did not disappoint. My favorite character, Betty Cooper is experiencing some craziness and I can’t wait to see what the next episode holds. I love Betty Cooper’s girl next door demeanor and classic girly style. It’s simple, fresh and classic. One of her classic outfits consists of a pink sweater with a collar, jeans, and white sneakers. Inspired by this, I decided to create an outfit that perhaps the modern day Betty would wear. The pearl top is form fitting and comfortable with puff sleeves, the faux collar is actually a good ole’ fashioned dickey that is secured under your shirt or sweater and over your undergarments. It’s a great way to add some oomph to a simple sweater or top. These trousers are a staple of mine and they’re pretty old from Zara, but they are super comfortable and fit well. Instead of white sneaks, I decided to add some height with these nude suede pumps–voila! I think Betty Cooper would be proud.

And if you don’t like Riverdale and/or haven’t watched it, I’m sorry. But if you’re looking for a good binge-worthy show, I highly recommend it!

So September is over…that lasted all of two minutes. I think it’s because we still had some lingering hot days that it didn’t quite feel like fall. Not only is October the month of my birthday, but it’s also just the BEST month ever! Seriously. Let’s talk about October for a minute. The air gets crisp, leaves are in full fall color, farms are open for pumpkin and apple picking, hot cider and cider doughnuts are within reach–need I say more?! Everything about it is perfect. Another thing about fall is the change that seems to follow me around during these fall months. It’s funny.  Every career/life move I’ve made has either fallen in September or October. And this October, I will be starting a new position at a really cool company in downtown Boston. Those who know me know that change is difficult for me, well it’s difficult for most, but especially for me. The only change I like is the change in seasons, to be honest. What can I say? I’m a creature of habit. However, I’ve been long overdue for some change. In fact, this move has me feeling more inspired and excited than ever. In the past, there were times where I constantly doubted myself or my decision, but that hasn’t happened once in this process. I think it’s safe to say that means it’s the right move. I read a quote the other day that said: “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.” I can really relate to that. For a while, I’ve been feeling complacent and less motivated, and now I have the opportunity to start something new and learn from new people; I am super excited to start this brand new adventure. One chapter closed, on to the next one.

Now, enough about my life changes and more about this simple fall look. When it comes to outfits, I’m the type of person who focuses solely on the entree, and less on the sides. LOL. Does that make sense? I spend most of my energy focusing on the top and bottom and much less on the accessories and shoes. This isn’t the best advice because accessories have the ability to really make or break any outfit, but it’s how I’ve always been. If I find a shoe with a considerable heel that’s comfortable, I’ll wear it until I no longer can. This season, I plan to spend some time channeling my inner accessor-ista (that’s not a word). With that, I have styled my simple rich brown colored blouse with my favorite black denim and my FAVORITE accessory yet: this envelope belt-bag. Or, as I like to call it: a fanny pack. Any accessory that allows me to be handsfree, I’m on board. I actually have several fanny packs, but with funky colors and patterns. This one, I can actually wear to the bar and it will actually complement my outfit. I’ll absolutely be styling this blouse in multiple ways and can’t wait to share some of my fall favorites this season. Happy fall, Y’all! Too much, right?

Columbus day weekend sales are the best ones we’ll see before Black Friday. However, I’ve realized that some of the deals I’ve scored on Columbus Day weekend are far better than the ones I’ve seen on Black Friday. To help you guys kick off or add to your fall wardrobe, I’m sharing some of my favorite sales and picks for the BIG day. And good news! You don’t have to leave your couch on this rainy weekend because the same sales are available online.

code-fall50Ann Taylor. This weekend until Monday night, everything at Ann Taylor is an additional 50-percent off with code FALL50 at checkout. Below I included some of my favorites. (From right to left) Everyone could use a tweed blazer. This Mixed Tweed One Button Blazer is a favorite. Wear it with matching tweed pants or your favorite pair of denim; can you say serious staple? Moto jackets never go out of style and while I may have one too many, I think I’ll have to include this Wool Blend Moto Jacket  to my closet. UM. Fall is synonymous with leather and when you combine comfortable legging stretch with faux leather, you have to stock up on more than one pair. Whether you prefer chunky knits or fitted tops, these Faux Leather Leggings are your girl. Other necessities include: Tallulah Suede Booties, Ribbed Cashmere Cardigan and (already snagged these with my birthday coupon) Pinstripe Refined Kick Crop Flare.

Banana Republic. I couldn’t forget my most-shopped store: Banana Republic. This weekend they are offering an additional 50-percent off (taken at checkout, no code necessary). UM. GUYS. Can you say: my shopping prayers have been answered?! Some of the pieces I’m pining for are: this on-trend blush Eyelash Pullover (cozy and cute). Everyone could use a classic white fitted point collar and bow tie button down and this Riley-Fit Bow Shirt is my front-runner for the season. Casual coats are an obsession of mine and I always seem to acquire more than I can wear in a season. I even told myself to put an end to purchasing coats. However, Banana’s Melton Wool Wrap Jacket is an absolute exception. This blush wool wrap jacket with tie closure is a romantic staple that I just MUST HAVE this fall season. It’s cozy, warm and relatively light-weight. Others I absolutely need: the Mini Cross-Body Bag and the Dina Shoe to top off my fall closet.

code-fall50-2H&M. I’ll be honest, I haven’t been shopping H&M lately, but when I realized they were having a 60-percent off sale for the holiday weekend, I couldn’t resist. Even though the sale applied to select items, there are more than 1492 to choose from, to be exact (how fitting). I went straight for the neutrals, which include their Wool-blend Coat, Long Cotton Shirt,  Pile-lined Suede Sneakers, and Platform boots These choices are obvious, right?

Go on out there and get your Columbus Day shopping done and share with me your most prized purchases!
