I spent the past two weekends in my hometown of Chester, New Jersey, and to be quite honest it was exactly what I needed. It felt like two mini vacations; most of the time I prefer the beach to unwind and relax, but since moving away, I’ve come to realize that being around my family and in my “home” provide me with just as much relaxation as sand between my toes. I also took the opportunity to go through my spring/summer clothes and came across these bell bottoms and this lace blouse–score! I guess you could say I was so 70’s inspired with this duo that I decided to change my hair up as well. I was toying with the idea of getting a lob when I got my haircut two weeks ago, but I’m happy I didn’t because long hair can be so fun if you know how to do it. Trust me, I’m no hair pro, in fact, I just recently mastered the curling iron and that’s about as far as it goes. I will say, this high half-up pony is something I’ve always wanted to try. My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it so it was so simple to do once I gave my hair the necessary volume by curling it. Then I simply pulled it half up at the crown of my head and grabbed some hair from the back to make up for the lack of hair I took from the sides. I think the only way to complement such an amazing high neck blouse is with a spicy new hairstyle. And by spicy I mean just an average half-up pony for hair amateurs like myself…

So yea, remember on Monday how I was all like “Yay Spring is here!” Well it’s not, because I, like many others, had to endure a snowy drive home last night and as you can imagine I was not amused. While I was hoping I’d be able to wear an airy long sleeve shirt with my favorite bell bottom jeans, I had no choice but to layer on a faux fur vest. I do, however believe the vest provided the necessary final touch to this look, don’t you agree?

Taking a trip down memory lane, after a long break with my bell bottom jeans I decided to invest in a new pair, a pair that didn’t know what I looked like with braces and a tattoo choker around my neck. My new, sophisticated pair of bell bottoms has made me feel like I should be getting ready for  a Backstreet Boys concert. And I forgot how much I love their fit, the tight sleek fit at the top half makes it flirtatious and sweet, while their flare adds that all too familiar adolescent charm.
