WIDE LEG CROPS AND A FAVORITE KNIT

Details: Ann Taylor wide leg crop pants with lace detail (older), equally cute style here | Melrose and Market via Nordstromrack cowl neck knit sweater, here | Franco Sarto via Marshall’s black tassel slides, similar here |

Given that the snow has yet to stop, I’m still wearing my chunky knits but baring some skin to let Mother Nature know that I’m ready for warmer temps. I have become somewhat addicted to wide leg crop pants. Not only are they super comfortable, but they look so stylish on and have the ability to bring a casual outfit up a notch. Instead of my standard pumps, I went with slides (staying on the comfort theme) and I felt super cozy but also extremely stylish. I’m hoping I never have to pull on this grey cowl neck sweater (even though it’s amazingly comfy) until next winter. I will, however, be wearing these wide leg crops well into the spring…if that season ever decides to make an appearance.

BRIGHT ON!

Details: Forever 21 Ribbed Multicolor Sweater, similar here | American Eagle High-Waisted jeans, similar here | Forever 21 Faux Leather Combat Boots, here

Guys! It was unexpectedly 70-degrees yesterday and I couldn’t even believe it. Today is supposed to be just as warm, but my pale skin is not prepared for gorgeous sunshine and blue skies. That being said,  I won’t be donning shorts, skirts or dresses, but instead, I will channel the brighter weather with this multicolor cropped sweater and bold yellow drop earrings. I always seem to channel retro 70’s style, and I think it’s because I love wearing bright colors and letting my hair flow in waves. I ditched bell bottoms for tapered high-waisted skinny jeans and slid on some combat boots, making this an elevated 2018 70’s inspired look, right?! Once my skin is tanner, I can wear this sweater layered under overalls and over a cute denim dress…the options are endless! I’m also not getting too excited about these warmer temps in February because we’re supposed to get some snow on Thursday. Thanks for the reality check, Mother Nature!

Hope your day is filled with sunshine, whether it’s from within or outside. Shine on my beautiful babes!

ROMPER, ROMPHIM, ROMP-ALL!

Details: TJ Maxx/Marshalls Bell Sleeve Honey Punch Romper, here |

So, the guys are getting on the romper wagon now, huh? I’m completely fine with this, but I will say that everything that guys have said about rompers, like that they hate them because they look like something a toddler would wear or that they’re not flattering on anyone in anyway shape or form and look more creepy than sexy.  After seeing rompers on men, it makes me wonder if they were right all along. I mean not ALL men can pull off a RompHim, and it is somewhat off-putting that they look like hairy adult babies runinng around. But to each his own, right? Despite my growing distaste for the recent RompHim trend, I am certain I will not be ditching my rompers any time soon. In fact, I just scored this bell-sleeve romper from Marshall’s and couldn’t love more if I tried. Unlike most offices, mine doesn’t implement a strict dress code which means rompers are acceptable in the workplace–woohoo!! And the fact that this one has long sleeves makes it even more loveable because it allows me to combat the ice chamber conditions inside the office, while still looking like I’m acknowleding the fact that it’s spring when I walk outside. Its floral pattern is tasteful and broken up by the lace detail in the middle, makes this one of my favorites this season. Cheers to rompers for all,  we’re truly breaking fashion boundaries!

A PUNCH OF PINK…GOLD

Details: Lipault Paris Miss Plume XS Backpack, here  | Banana Republic white denim wide leg pants, similar here | Forever 21 sleeveless top (last year), similar here |

The rules of no white after Labor Day are long forgotten and since it’s taking a lot longer for the spring weather to settle in, I decided to pull out my wide leg white denim and take on an all white look. It’s so funny that such a neutral everyday color (lack thereof) used to be such a faux pas. I mean, no one ever says you can’t wear black in the summer. Ivory, egg shell, stark white–they’ve also been kind to me during the summer months. And while you’ll rarely see me accessorizing with a bag or tote (I’m a wallet only kinda girl), I have to say this perfect Pink Gold Lipault Paris Backpack is a summer must-have. It’s small enough not to be cumbersome, but roomy enough to fit everything you need for a day of shopping or on the beach. Gone are the days when pink gold was only worn around your neck or on your ears. The color has become a serious statement in the apparel and accessory industries. And despite what some may think, it has also become quite a neutral for the summer. At one time, metallics and shimmer used to be considered flashy or “over the top”, now they’re just as necessary as your nude pumps or black clutch. Don’t wait around for the weather, just dress like it’s already spring and the sunshine will follow ( I hope)!

Double DOSE OF DENIM

DSC_0331edited LRDSC_0337edited LRjpgDSC_0338edited LRDSC_0362edited LRDSC_0373edited LR

Details: Tencel Indigo Pullover c/o J.Jill, here |

At one point in style time, Canadian tuxedos were a serious faux pas, however, the times have changed and it is not stylishly acceptable to mix and match denim in one outfit. This Tencel Indigo Pullover Top is not as restricting as denim, but more lax and comfy. It is something that can be worn on a cozy day with sweats, or with your favorite pair of denim blues. I chose to style it with my favorite pair of legging jeans and broke the outfit up with a classic brown belt. I guess you can say, I’m going for a Western look–I don’t hate it! When wearing denim on denim, it’s important to style your blues appropriately. What I mean by that is, don’t try and match your denim top and bottom exactly. Go for a light and dark look. This way, you’re able to accessorize more and you won’t look overly monochromatic.

MORE SUN HATS LESS SUNBURNS

DSC_0720edited 2DSC_0723 LRDSC_0713edited LRjpgDSC_0760editedDSC_0754edited 2DSC_0753 LRDetails: Chambray Sun Hat c/o J.Jill, here | Peek-a-boo shoulder top from Marshalls, similar here |

No matter what I do, when I go to the beach for the first time of the season, my scalp gets burnt. I usually carry a ratty worn baseball cap, or get creative and tie a shirt around my head, but that’s just not cute. I’ve started to take the sun seriously. Skin cancer runs in my family and I haven’t been so kind to my skin over the years. My high school years were spent at the tanning salon (hello, I’m from New Jersey), and I often wore the absolute minimum SPF while crisping my skin. I wisened up (a little) when I went to college, and now I wear nothing less than 30 SPF. I’ve also become very conscious of my scalp because it’s hard to see the damage that’s being done. Now that I have this cute and comfortable chambray sun hat from J.Jill, I don’t have to worry about looking silly while I’m spending the day outside enjoying the sun. As for my all white look, I broke out last year’s Banana Republic white denim wide leg pants and I picked up this cold shoulder top from Marshall’s. It’s actually a body suit, which makes it even more amazing. You don’t have to worry about it become untucked or looking out of place–it’s one of my favorite new purchases!  Now, it’s your turn to pick up a cute sun hat, slather on the SPF and put a classic all white look together, it is spring after all.

EASTER BEST

DSC_0502EDITEDDSC_0495EDITEDDSC_0506 2EDITEDDSC_0464EDITEDDSC_0466EDITEDDSC_0472 2DSC_0477EDITEDDetails: LOFT Shimmer Floral Flounce Dress, here | Dansko’s Demetra sandal, here |

This was one of the first Easter’s in a while that I was able to wear a dress without tights or a coat. It was almost too hot this weekend; a whopping 86-degrees. My Easter Sunday began with a beautiful sunrise mass with my mom and dad. It was so peaceful. This time of year is always hard because we lost a lot of loved ones in the months of March and April. Fortunately, there were signs all around us at mass, making both my mom and I laugh and cry. After mass, we prepared for Easter brunch and the egg hunt. All the little babies were in search of those bright candy filled eggs. So fun to watch! Like I said, this was one of the first Easters in a long time that I didn’t have to wear pants or a coat. I finally got to take this Floral Flounce Dress out on the town. It’s comfortable and elegant all at once. I also love how I was successfully able to hide my Easter brunch belly. Usually, when I’m at home I wear no shoes, socks or slippers, but because I recently got a pair of Dansko’s Demetra sandal and found them to be unbelievably comfortable, I was able to wear a cute stylish shoe all day long. Not even kidding. I’m surprised at how comfortable they are, given the generous height. I’m a neutral girl, so I obviously gravitated to the taupe color, but they are also available in black and brown. I haven’t stopped wearing them. I think I may have found my go-to summer sandal. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Let the flowy dress and sandal wearing weather continue :).

LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE SHOULDERS

DSC_0159editedDSC_0162editedDSC_0135editedDSC_0123edited (1)DSC_0125editedDetails: Blush pink off-the-shoulder top from RoseGal, here |

I know that I’ve been saying this for a while now, but I think it’s actually safe to say that it is officially off-the-shoulder season. Remember the collar bone and cleavage trends? Where even if you didn’t have a bust, you would strap yourself into some double camis and over priced, over padded Victoria’s Secret bra. Ahh, nostalgia. Well, that trend has long been gone, but the past two summers it seems that the shoulders are getting their time to shine. I love bare shoulders. It’s a sexy yet tasteful way to bare some skin. The blush color coupled with bare shoulders is a definite spring 2017 statement. The only thing missing is a sun-kissed glow. TBD when that will happen. Since I styled this outfit after a snowstorm, I paired it with some distressed denim and booties, but it will be so much fun to style with wedges and cutoffs. I think my closet is ready for spring, I’m just not sure that my skin is. Call me Snow White for now.

BARE LEGS AND PERFECT PLEATS

DSC_0144edtedDSC_0153editedDSC_0139editedDSC_0131editedDSC_0068edited (1)DSC_0169edited123DSC_0171 (1)Details: Ann Taylor Side Tie Pleated Skirt, here |Sleeveless sweater top (old ZARA), similar here | Banana Republic textured moto jacket, similar here |

You wouldn’t know this by the stupid weather lately, but Spring is officially here and I am no longer waiting for the weather to catch up. I started to pull out my old skirts and invested in some new ones, like this side tie pleated skirt from Ann Taylor. I’m super short, so I don’t typically go for skirts of this length, but Ann Taylor carries this in petite so it hit where it was supposed to on me. I also love the color because it’s unlike any other skirt I currently own. And it’s a twirl-supported skirt, which means it supports twirling–DUH! I paired it with a sleeveless white knit and a blazer, but I’m anxiously waiting to pair sleeveless and off-the-shoulder tops with it. I probably should’ve made the side tie tighter, but my sweater was hiding it so I decided to let it hang, but I would suggest tying tight to fit your waist. If you’re still battling the cold weather like I am, you could also wear an oversized sweater, and let it fall over the skirt–it will give this skirt more of an edge, not to mention it’ll be super comfortable.

What are you dying to wear for Spring!?

CASUAL IN COUTURE

DSC_0040editedDSC_0047editedDSC_0042editedDSC_0037editedDSC_0084DSC_0086DSC_0068 2DSC_0069 2Details: Ann Taylor animal print overcoat (old), similar here | Thierry Rabotin Princeton couture pumps, similar here |

Remember when I was talking about how we were going to reach 60-degrees this weekend and I was all like: “YAY! spring is finally here for good. No more winter.” Remember that? Well apparently Mother Nature was not too happy with my excitement because the weather this Saturday went from 60-degrees down to 46-degrees, AND it’s supposed to snow. NO. I actually wore the most spring-like outfit on Monday and now I’m digging back in my closet for some cozy knits and coats. Since the cold hasn’t arrived yet, I’ve been able to pull out my lighter coats like this black and white animal print one from Ann Taylor. It’s an oldie but goodie and I love that I can wear it anything. It really has the ability to make a simple outfit stand out. AND you may notice that I’m bearing some skin in the footwear department. That’s because I recently got my hands on this Thierry Rabotin couture pumps. They’re not only super comfortable, but they glitter as I walk. They’re like an adult version of the light-up sneakers I used to have when I was a kid. They too have the ability to bring any outfit to the next level. As you can see, I paired them with this casual chic look and it instantly looks ultra sophisticated. It’s important to have pieces like these in your arsenal; they make mixing and matching fun and easy.
