LET QUILTED COAT & VEST SEASON BEGIN

Details: Ann Taylor bonfire sweater, here | Quilted down coat in Peat c/o J.Jill, here |

So we’ve had a few true fall days, but it looks like we’re going to be back in the 80-degree weather today. I don’t know about you, but I find it super frustrating planning my outfit in the morning because I’m cold when I wake up and sweating on my lunch break. Despite what we might be experiencing, the season we’re currently in is in fact fall. And that means that we’re in quilted coat season. Every fall I seem to get myself a new quilted coat and this olive green lightweight down coat from J.Jill has become my favorite. It’s super lightweight and breathable so it’s actually easy to wear in this flighty weather. I typically gravitate toward taupe or black, but I’m loving this dark olive green color because it’s neutral yet adds a necessary pop of color. Speaking of color, this Ann Taylor Bonfire sweater is AMAZING. It’s a 70’s throwback (I think LOL). I love the vintage look and the pop of color really brightens up my neutral fall wardrobe. It’s comfortable and fun to layer with a quilted coat, denim jacket or puffer vest–HELL YES!

I think it’s safe to say that my fall closet is starting to come together, we just need Mother Nature to cooperate.

FALL FASHION TIP: GO BOLD

Details: Banana Republic floral strappy midi slip dress, here | Photos by Jon Salas

Everywhere I look there’s pumpkin spice this and salted caramel that. I think we all jumped the gun on whipping out the fall scented candles and fitted knits, myself included. Especially considering we’ll be experiencing 80-degree temps this week. While there have been SOME breezy days, there definitely haven’t been enough to be convinced that fall is here to stay. Despite this un-fall like weather, I’ve been stopping by all of my favorite brands and have begun planning my fall closet and pinpointing my fall necessities. It’s true, my typical fall must-haves would include a neutral colored chunky knit, some booties and a long sleeve fitted tee, but with the weather being so fickle, I haven’t stopped getting my hands on sleek strappy dresses. This floral midi dress makes me feel sexy and sophisticated at the same time. It’s effortless and as soon as you slip it on you feel as though you deserve to be strolling the small streets of Venice or sipping on some prosecco outside of a Parisian cafe. I’m serious, it has that effect. It’s bold and vibrant, and it’s so easy to have a closet full of three different shades of taupe and endless black knits and booties. However, I love wearing and playing with colors, especially ones as bold as this. AND if this dress is too colorful for you, it’s available in grey with blue and white flowers–super pretty as well! While I won’t be wearing this dress to work, it’s definitely one I will wear on a date night a drape over solid color scarf/pashmina because anything heavier or bulkier will distract from the beauty and flawlessness of the dress. Don’t be afraid to be bold with color this season and add something to your wardrobe that is a bit outside of your comfort zone, you’ll be surprised at how good you’ll feel and look–trust me!

Banana Republic sent me this dress in exchange for writing a review on my blog. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.

SUMMER —> FALL

Details: Pure Jill Luxe Tencel Mock-Neck Maxi Dress c/o J.Jill, here

This weekend we experienced a preview of fall weather. The air was crisp, the Halloween decorations were stocked on the shelves at Homegoods and…you guessed it… Starbucks was pushing its pumpkin spice latte–gotta love fall. So instead of donning my bathing suit and basking in the sun, I was layering my summer basics and contemplating bringing out my UGGs. Relax, guys, it didn’t happen. I did, however, begin to rethink my wardrobe and started to eye some pieces that I was ready to purge or tuck away until next summer. In doing so, I came across this mock-neck maxi from J.Jill. It was from their spring collection, I think I received it around March? I’m not exactly sure, but I know that when I received it, I was trying to think of a way to style it sleeveless without freezing my butt off. Needless to say, it didn’t happen. But I realized that NOW is the perfect time to slip it on. Since I’ve been relentlessly working on my tan, the neutral heather-taupe color is flattering and while it does have a mock-neck (which I LOVE), it’s still fairly lightweight. I am absolutely in love with it. It’s like I’m seeing it for the first time. Isn’t it strange how we look at clothes differently during different seasons? I don’t know that I would wear this at palest (Dec-April), but it’s the ideal dress to transition from summer to fall. And it can be worn casual with flip flops and minimal jewelry or dressed up with a sexy wedge and bold earrings. Now start digging through your closet to find some hidden gems. You may be surprised to find something you wouldn’t have deemed appropriate for the current season.
