ROMPERS: THE NEVER-ENDING SUMMER TREND

Details: LOFT Tassled Off-the-Shoulder Romper, here | Rockport Cobb Hill Tropez High Vamp, here  |

Rompers are a girl’s best friend once the warm weather rolls around. They’re undeniably comfortable and you don’t have to worry about a summer breeze exposing you or being conscious of how you sit. And we all know that in addition to the romper trend, the off-the-shoulder trend is just as popular right now. Like I said last year: “shoulders are the new cleavage”, and it remains to be true this year too. OFTS tops share just enough skin to be sexy while allowing you to remain modest and classy. Although I’m known for going for bold colors and patterns when it comes to rompers, I love that this one is black and can be easily dressed up or down. Lately, I’ve been on an earring kick and have been popping in some color that way. However, if casual is more your speed, throw on your favorite pair of flip flops and stroll on down to the beach–the options are endless. So, does anyone need more reason to go out and get your romper on? I didn’t think so.

ROMPER, ROMPHIM, ROMP-ALL!

Details: TJ Maxx/Marshalls Bell Sleeve Honey Punch Romper, here |

So, the guys are getting on the romper wagon now, huh? I’m completely fine with this, but I will say that everything that guys have said about rompers, like that they hate them because they look like something a toddler would wear or that they’re not flattering on anyone in anyway shape or form and look more creepy than sexy.  After seeing rompers on men, it makes me wonder if they were right all along. I mean not ALL men can pull off a RompHim, and it is somewhat off-putting that they look like hairy adult babies runinng around. But to each his own, right? Despite my growing distaste for the recent RompHim trend, I am certain I will not be ditching my rompers any time soon. In fact, I just scored this bell-sleeve romper from Marshall’s and couldn’t love more if I tried. Unlike most offices, mine doesn’t implement a strict dress code which means rompers are acceptable in the workplace–woohoo!! And the fact that this one has long sleeves makes it even more loveable because it allows me to combat the ice chamber conditions inside the office, while still looking like I’m acknowleding the fact that it’s spring when I walk outside. Its floral pattern is tasteful and broken up by the lace detail in the middle, makes this one of my favorites this season. Cheers to rompers for all,  we’re truly breaking fashion boundaries!

LOCAL LOOKS

Although the summer is nearly over we still have some warm weeks ahead even going into September. As much as I LOVE going to the mall, there’s nothing better than visiting a boutique and finding some hidden gems at a reasonable price. Not to mention, most experiences at boutiques are much more intimate and personal. Often times the sales associates are more honest about what looks good or what’s trending because they genuinely want you to come back again, knowing they’re there to help. I decided to take a trip to Somerville, NJ to a new local hot spot Beyond Trends. It was recommended to me by a close friend and former supervisor, from Ladyfingers Boutique (she now has a new store, K. Bella in Somerville, check it out!) as I entered the store I felt the need to grab about 15 articles of clothing, everything caught my eye. To my surprise, all summer merchandise was 30% off  and fortunately more than half of my selections were rompers. I purchased TWO for a total of $60.00—UM AMAZING! This multi-colored intricately patterned romper is unlike any other I own, hence why I NEEDED it. It’s loose fitting and flowing with a deep v-neck; normally I would wear a lace bandeau under this, however I was in a rush and desperate to wear it, so I settled for a cami. I love crochet and lace embellishments, they have the ability to make clothing look delicate, soft and elegant. As you can imagine, that’s exactly what lead me to this beauty. It’s a romantic romper, one that you can imagine yourself strolling through a field of sunflowers or barefoot on the beach—I love everything about it. So, if you’re in the area ditch the mall for the day and do some local boutique shopping, you’ll be surprised how much better you feel about spending your money.

FOR THE LOVE OF ROMPERS

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner I decided to devote my posts this week to the colors of love and romance. So, for today’s Valentine’s Day look I went bold with this hot pink romper. For those that know me, know that I love a good romper—they’re comfortable and flirtatious making them a definite Valentine’s Day favorite. Layered with a blazer it’s immediately office appropriate, slip it off, add a statement necklace and be on your way to meet your sweetheart for drinks–PERFECTION.

Whether your spending your Valentines day with your Galentines, or that special someone, you’ll find no fault in slipping on your favorite romper.
