DRESSING FOR SUMMER

Details: V-Neck Red Polka Dot Dress via Amazon, here | Suede Peep-Toe Heeled Mules, similar here |

The weather has finally turned for us here in Boston. Well, that statement is somewhat true. It’s been raining for 90-percent of May, but we’ve had some balmy rainy days and this weekend was BEAUTIFUL. We usually have a summer trip planned, but this summer we’re without one and I’m okay with that. The lack of a summer trip has NOT prevented me from investing a revamped summer wardrobe. Lately, I’ve realized that much of my summer pieces from last summer are still favorites so I haven’t really purchased as much as I usually do, but the summer season is just beginning, there’s still time. Once the warm days hit on a more consistent basis, I plan to pull out my dresses. Dresses in the summer are so easy to style and wear. The only problem I foresee is the freezing office temps we all encounter, but pain is beauty…right? As I was perusing Amazon for some summer sun dresses, I cam across this light-weight long sleeve ruffle dress. I LOVE that it has long flowy sleeves (to combat the freezer-like temps) and its loose-fitting silhouette. It makes it easy to style and wear in an office setting. I had a hard time figuring out which shoes to wear because I wanted to style this with white sneaks, but it didn’t look right. I’m not sure I’ll be able to master the dress with sneakers look but I’ll be sure to get back to you on that. Instead, I went with a nude heeld mule and I think it looks pretty flawless. You could also throw on some espadrilles since that’s what seems to be the shoe of the summer. Also a shoe trend I’m beginning to get behind. Stay tuned. So far my summer closet includes a ton of basics, this perfectly flowing dress, floral patterns and more denim jackets than I know what to do with. Stay tuned!

A HOLIDAY SEASON MUST-HAVE

Details: Nordstrom/Chelsea28 Off the Shoulder dress, here |

The holiday season is finally here and that means Hallmark Christmas movies, over-eating and festive dresses. I always purchase dresses during this time of year and I constantly tell myself: “I’m going to wear this every year. It’s timeless and so perfect.” But what do I end up doing? Purchasing several new dresses along with new shoes and makeup, only to do it all again next season. I’m aware that it’s an unhealthy vicious cycle, but there are worse things in the world. Anyway, I actually purchased this dress for a September wedding…SEE! More than one use! I love it because it’s laid back with bare shoulders, but it’s formal fit and flare bell sleeves make it sophisticated and irresistibly sweet. Oh, and a side note, two women who attended the same wedding were wearing the same dress, but in black. While I like the black, it just doesn’t do it for me. A dress fit this stunning deserves a vibrant color. Not only is it available in this eye-popping red, but there’s also a stunning emerald green…perfect for this time of year! One thing I was concerned about when I purchased this beauty, was if it would slip on and off my shoulders and make me uncomfortable and frustrated. I can honestly say, I’ve never encountered a more secure off-the-shoulder top or dress, and I’m not kidding. It’s tightly fitted, but not restrictive and it is SO comfortable. I could wave my hands in the air without any pulling, pinning or primping–total perfection!

If you haven’t gotten your holiday outfits already, I highly suggest that you get your hands on this dress! Be bold and go for red or green… or BOTH!

Happy holiday dress shopping! Tell me: what are your favorite holiday season duds?!

TRADE IN THAT LBD FOR A RED ONE

dsc_0896editeddsc_0900editeddsc_0893editeddsc_0895editeddsc_0008editeddsc_0997editedDetails: Lace Insert Openwork Slimming Bodycon dress c/o Rosegal, here |

It really didn’t feel like Christmas this year, and leading up to the day I was super worried that I wouldn’t feel that Christmas spirit. But after seeing my little babes (nieces and nephews) so excited over Santa and all of the presents he brought them, it was hard not to. I’ll be honest, I don’t typically dress up on Christmas day. It’s mostly because I’d rather be comfortable than cute and I like to help in the kitchen or hold a drooling baby without worrying about getting a good outfit dirty. While I don’t typically dress up on Christmas day, that doesn’t mean I don’t love a good dress. I always gravitate to black, but when I saw this red lace bodycon dress, I couldn’t help but grab it. It’s comfortable and I love that it has long sleeves because I do not want my pasty white arms getting any attention. I also really love how vibrant the color red is. It just screams Christmas joy–right? Just because the holidays are coming to a close, doesn’t mean you don’t need a ton of new dresses for 2017 weekends ahead. Speaking of 2017, if you’re still on the hunt for a NYE dress, scoop this one up from Rosegal. Fun tip: it’s not normal bodycon tight, so you can drink as much champagne and chomp on endless apps without feeling like your food baby is showing.

Well, that’s all I got, but I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with Christmas spirit!

RED DRESS READY

Grown up Valentine’s Day is fun and all, I mean there’s chocolate, food, and a cozy cuddle buddy. BUT there are some downfalls– for the coupled up, it means fixed menus, over-priced entrees, a need to find some kind of gift, I mean how creative can you get with a box of chocolates? And for the singles, as much as you try to, you can’t ignore the fact that it’s Valentine’s Day. Window displays are filled with hanging hearts and red dresses, coffee shops are selling those adorably delicious heart shaped cookies and you’re just like WHY ME!?

It’s ok let’s breathe, take moment, and return to our childhood years where everyone received a Valentine AND candy. They were not so secretly delivered to your own heart decorated shoe box while you were getting high on sugar all day, only to return home to well received hugs from your forever Valentines–Mom and Dad, BLISS.

Well today while reminiscing over the simpler days, I resorted to a more conservative and subdued Valentine’s Day look. This wine colored long sleeve dress reminds me of my childhood dresses (minus the low neckline). It’s simple and classic making it bearable to wear out in these freezing temps. I paired it with a chunky statement necklace and decided to call it a day. It’s a perfect no fuss look, and one that will win over your love bug.

Chin up! Valentine’s Day isn’t so bad, just find a cuddle buddy and some wine…or just wine
