MY VIA DE’ GINORI DRESS

Details: Terracotta Polka Dot Tea Dress c/o Pretty Little Thing, here | Franco Sarto Takara Espadrille Sandal via DSW, here|

This dress is called the Terracotta Tea dress and while I don’t believe I’ve been to an authentic tea party (at least not in my adult life), I’m not sure I imagine myself in this while sipping tea across from the Queen. When I think Terracotta, I think of the Italian dessert, Panna Cotta. And when I first saw this dress, its name after Terracotta, the clay, I instantly imagined myself wearing it while running errands in the streets of Florence, Italy. I’m not sure why, but I could see myself walking down those quaint Italian streets with fresh mozzarella cheese and a warm loaf of bread. I thought of the apartment on Via de’ Ginori where I lived while studying abroad, and those hellish stairs I used to climb in the scorching summer heat. Sitting in the kitchen with new friends laughing about the day’s events, planning the evening’s and sipping on wine and cheese. Sometimes it hurts how much I miss that place. It was so special and surreal. I love that this dress evokes those memories. It makes it one of my favorites.

Do you have clothing like that? Garments that conjure up memories? Treasure them.

THE BEST FRIEND OF DRESSES

Details: Blue Floral Flare Sleeve High Neck Frill Hem Dress c/o Pretty Little Thing, here |

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: a good dress is like a good friend. It will complement you and make you feel confident, secure, comfortable and happy. This dress probably takes the number one best friend stop. First of all, I love a high neck, so…CHECK! Even though it’s long sleeve the material is super lightweight and it’s NOT see through. I love the blue, but it also comes in a lemon yellow. It’s definitely romantic dress and somewhat whimsical. I feel like it’s something the lead character of a Netflix modern day Cinderella remake would wear. I think it will be perfect for bridal and baby showers, and potentially weddings. I went with my comfy heeled mules but you could also opt for a strappy nude or white sandal. I haven’t really experienced clothing from Pretty Little Thing until now, and I have to be honest, it’s pretty much a game changer, especially if you’re into fast fashion. The prices are reasonable and the quality is super. I feel like if Pretty Little Thing needed a spokes-dress it would be this one. It is the epitome of a “pretty little thing.”

Stay tuned for more SUPER pretty little things!

2019: CAR COATS + A SUGAR DETOX

Going back to work after 10-14 days off feels like an actual slap in the face. I don’t even know how to function normally. I don’t often sleep in, but over break, I slept well until 8:30-9a.m., and now I’m afraid I won’t be able to make my usual 6:15 a.m. wake up call. Someone help! Not to mention, the weather is expected to get a little chillier these next couple weeks, and I’m far from prepared for that. And while my typical OOTD on vacation consisted of leggings, no makeup, and a chunky sweater, I did try to spruce it up a bit, in an effort to feel more productive. One of my coziest and most put-together staples is this reversible camel and grey wool car coat. It IS everything. It’s not stiff or overbearingly heavy like your average wool coat. Instead, it is more like a more substantial cardigan with pockets and a more esteemed collar. It’s light enough to layer with chunky turtlenecks, sweaters, and the perfect flowy button-up like the one styled. Lately, I’ve been resorting to these suede block heels, but I recently purchased some low, neutral suede booties that will look equally as good, but a little more casual.

I’m thinking my first day back to the office tomorrow will consist of my stretchiest most acceptable pants, a loose tee, and the chunkiest/coziest knit I could find. Sounds good, right? Wish me luck as I head back to work, detox from sugar and try not to drink more than three cups of coffee in the first two hours of work.

Cheers to 2019! I haven’t made any resolutions yet. Thinking of setting some goals, though. TBD!

THE AMERICAN MEME & TEDDY BEAR COATS

Details: Tiger Mist Teddy Jacket, currently sold out  similar jacket from Gap, here |

I’m currently watching American Meme on Netflix, and if you haven’t already, you need to check it out. It’s super interesting and entertaining. It’s actually slightly alarming that the memes, social media and influencers have become such a huge part of the American culture, and to be able to watch the evolution of social media and the rise of these influential, insta-famous influencers is INSANE. I remember when I was interning at an online subscription beauty box doing social media my first year out of college, and I was talking to my boyfriend and his family discussing whether or not social media would last and if the rise of influencers is actually something to seriously consider as a career/part of marketing. Immediately, my bf and his family laughed and said it would likely fizzle out. I hesitantly agreed…that was six years ago and social media has only evolved and grown. As a marketing professional, it’s so interesting to watch, learn and navigate through this brand new age of marketing.

Okay. Now that I’m done plugging American Meme, let’s talk about this comfy cozy teddy coat that I purchased from Nordstrom at the beginning of the winter season. I’m not sure I need to really sell this must-have since it’s not only super cozy and necessary for the winter season, but it’s stylish and not easy to wear since it’s not as bulky. It’s been so cold in Boston lately that I would even wear this under my puffer coat since I’m always so cold in the office…and in general. It’s also roomy enough for you to wear a relatively thick layer underneath. If you live in a mild climate this could potentially serve as your mid-winter coat. I also feel like I’m channeling my inner JLO with this outfit, straddling the crosswalk in the streets of South Boston, aka “my block.” I’m definitely less JLO and more nameless Hallmark movie character trying to master her best urban wear/big city outfit. Introduce me to a hometown flannel wearing hero and put a bow on it…Happy Holidays!

COLD WINTER, HOT…PINK

Details: J. Crew Tissue Turtleneck T-Shirt, here | Madewell High- Rise Skinny Jeans in Black Sea, here | Sam Edelman Black Block Heels, similar here

As you probably know by now, I tend to gravitate to neutrals i.e. taupes, brown, beige, ivory etc., especially during the fall and winter months. However, I’ve realized that adding some color to your wardrobe opens the door to new outfit possibilities. I don’t know if it’s just me, but have you noticed the increase in hot pink clothing in your favorite stores lately? I’ve never been a pink person, I mean I love the neutral pinks, but I’ve never gravitated to hot pink clothing. This season, it’s everywhere and I am seriously loving it. I don’t believe I’ll ever go as far as Kameron on Real Housewives of Dallas with her pink sparkle dog food, but I already have several hot pink pieces in my closet, including this ultra comfy and lightweight hot pink turtleneck from J. Crew. The material is very thin and lightweight which is a nice change to my usual chunky knits. And instead of slipping on my usual booties, I decided to bare some foot skin and slid on my favorite pair of black block heels. They are SO comfortable and go with just about everything, including something as casual as these distressed pair of denim.

In terms of what’s going on in my life, I just returned from a work trip to London, and you know all those movies like Love Actually, The Holiday and Peter Rabbit? Yea. It’s exactly like that. I don’t know that there’s anything better than exploring a new city in a different country, no less. More on that later. Stay tuned!

COMFORT FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Details: H&M High Ankle Jeans, here | Boohoo Pastel Panel Chunky Trainers, here | American Eagle Henley Crew Neck Sweater, here |

It’s already Thanksgiving and I’m heading home to NJ to spend time with family and get some much needed R&R. When I was younger, we used to go to my Aunt’s house for Thanksgiving every other year and I always got dressed up to go and post up in the living room, sit around the dinner table with family and stuff my face until I had no choice but to unbutton my pants. It’s pretty much the same at my mom’s house except we’ve kind of done away with the whole getting dressed up. It’s all about eating and feeling as comfortable as possible doing so. Now, that by no means wearing sweatpants or PJs to the dinner table (we’re not savages), but it does mean wearing what makes you feel good. I usually try to wear my most worn in stretchy jeans and a cozy knit–it works every time. This year, I’m sure I’ll wear some variation of that, but what I do plan to wear for some weekend shopping, is this comfy AF outfit. These light-wash retro high-waisted jeans from H&M are nearly as comfortable as my favorite pair of leggings, I’ve worn them almost every weekend to get errands done. Keeping with the comfort theme, I snatched up this cropped American Eagle crewneck sweater that is SUPER soft and so cozy. It comes in a few other colors, but this cream ivory color happens to be my favorite. It’s also not an overbearing sweater. You know those chunky sweaters that end up swallowing your face whole? I LOVE them, but when you’re in dressing room after dressing room trying on clothes, you need to wear something that doesn’t make you sweat and is easy to take on and off. Ease and efficiency wins the sales. Now, here is the REAL game changer: shoes. I ALWAYS (shamelessly) wear my UGGs when I’m chasing sales and running errands, but they don’t give me the lift a short person like me needs. Hello! We have to be able to reach those hard to reach sweaters and tops that they hang on walls so you have no choice but to find a salesperson to help or grab that hanger stick thing and get it yourself, like a god damn boss. So, after buying a pair of relatively high fashion NIKE sneakers from Nordstrom and returning them because they cut ankles up, I was on the hunt for the PERFECT fashion sneaker. Enter these pastel chunky trainers from BOOHOO. Guys, they are SO comfortable and I love how they look with jeans, which is an added bonus. They also give me the perfect lift and the light pastel colors give outfits a much-needed pop. Honestly, if you’re like me and are pining for a platform sneaker, BOOHOO has a variety of really cute, comfortable AND affordable styles; you can’t go wrong. Now that I have my shopping outfit planned, I just need to figure out what my mom wants me to make for Thanksgiving…

Happy Turkey Day!

COAT SZN, FTW

Details: SheIn Houndstooth Coat, similar here | Aerie Real Soft Ribbed Turtleneck, here| Dadawen via Amazon, Platform Lace-Up Oxfords, here

It’s officially coat season and if you ask Josh, he would tell you that I’m the coat queen. I do have way too many coats and Josh always insists I start purging some,  but what if I need a hot pink semi-warm coat to get me through the fall and winter season!? Here in Boston, there really is such a short window of opportunity to wear them since they’re not exactly the warmest. This houndstooth coat is one of my favorites, but it’s more of a “fashion” coat, almost like a blazer. I feel like I could maybe wear this coat as an actual coat during the last week of September and maybe two to three weeks in October lol. Right now, we’re experiencing super cold mornings and chilly evenings, so as much as I would love to look like a fashionista sporting my stylish coats I like to be warm more. You will see me in my puffer coat with both buttons buttoned at the top, looking like a caterpillar in a cocoon. It’s not fashion, but it is toasty. My other favorite fall/winter must-have are these Aerie turtlenecks. I’ve always been a huge fan of the turtleneck, and this season Aerie has introduced these ribbed form-fitting turtleneck tops in (almost) every color you can imagine. I have them in this popping Holiday Red color, a kelly green, white and a rich wine/burgundy color. I LOVE them. They are the perfect layering piece and, who are we kidding, a turtleneck says sophistication, just ask Ron Burgundy. As for shoes, I’m all about comfort. Surprise, surprise, right? I hate to rip off designer styles and brands, but the one shoe style I’ve always loved are the Stella McCartney platform wingtip lace-up loafers. Like any millennial with no money, I went to Amazon and found these perfect imitations. These are so comfortable and they look awesome, IMO. So until the snow is falling, I’ll be rocking these and hopefully some cuter coats…if Mother Nature will allow.

ADDING COLOR TO MY COMFORT ZONE

I always gravitate toward neutrals, especially when it comes to fall pieces. I mean how can you go wrong with a cozy taupe sweater or a gray scarf? Bold colors can be intimidating during the fall months. Tans fade, your complexion becomes milkier; hot pink doesn’t look so cute when you’re resembling Casper. But with recent life changes and risks that have proven to work out in my favor, I decided to give add some bold pieces to my fall wardrobe. This full sleeve red top turned out to be an immediate success. The bold red complements my (slightly) new hair color, and I paired it with my favorite heeled mules. Venturing outside of my comfort zone has not only propelled my growth, but it has also opened my eyes to other and new passions. Whether you wear something you thought you’d never wear, accept a job in a different field or decide to try out a new sport, take a leap outside of your comfort zone and see where it takes you. If it doesn’t work out, at least you can say you tried something new.

JEAN JACKETS ALL SEASON LONG

Details: STS Blue Oversize Boyfriend Jean Jacket via Nordstrom Rack, here | Beige Suede Mules c/o Jjill, similar here

For as long as long as I can remember a denim jacket has always been a wardrobe staple. One of my most memorable denim jackets would have to be my mid-wash Abercrombie and Fitch one. I think I got it in 6th or 7th grade and I wore it through college… I actually still have it and it’s not off-trend. I still love it, but I ended up adding a couple more denim jackets to the mix. One is a more form-fitted stretch denim jacket from Ann Taylor and the other is one I haven’t been able to stop wearing. This STS Blue denim jacket from Nordstrom Rack. I love this one because it is somewhat oversized so I’m able to layer it over chunky knits, which is key for these chillier fall months. I also love its classic blue wash and I’ve been wearing it with black denim, leggings, sweatpants, all my jeans etc. I don’t even care if I look like a walking blueberry–I love it! I’m a HUGE sweatshirt, sweater, chunky knit person, but lately, I love treating this jacket as my go-to sweater/cardigan/etc. You can be sure I’ll be wearing this all fall long until I have to dig up a down puffer coat.

THE SEASON FOR CHANGE…AND FANNY PACKS

Details: Relaxed Shirttail Blouse c/o J.Jill, here | Envelope Belt-Bag c/o J.Jill, here | Madewell High-Rise Jeans in Black Sea, here |

So September is over…that lasted all of two minutes. I think it’s because we still had some lingering hot days that it didn’t quite feel like fall. Not only is October the month of my birthday, but it’s also just the BEST month ever! Seriously. Let’s talk about October for a minute. The air gets crisp, leaves are in full fall color, farms are open for pumpkin and apple picking, hot cider and cider doughnuts are within reach–need I say more?! Everything about it is perfect. Another thing about fall is the change that seems to follow me around during these fall months. It’s funny.  Every career/life move I’ve made has either fallen in September or October. And this October, I will be starting a new position at a really cool company in downtown Boston. Those who know me know that change is difficult for me, well it’s difficult for most, but especially for me. The only change I like is the change in seasons, to be honest. What can I say? I’m a creature of habit. However, I’ve been long overdue for some change. In fact, this move has me feeling more inspired and excited than ever. In the past, there were times where I constantly doubted myself or my decision, but that hasn’t happened once in this process. I think it’s safe to say that means it’s the right move. I read a quote the other day that said: “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.” I can really relate to that. For a while, I’ve been feeling complacent and less motivated, and now I have the opportunity to start something new and learn from new people; I am super excited to start this brand new adventure. One chapter closed, on to the next one.

Now, enough about my life changes and more about this simple fall look. When it comes to outfits, I’m the type of person who focuses solely on the entree, and less on the sides. LOL. Does that make sense? I spend most of my energy focusing on the top and bottom and much less on the accessories and shoes. This isn’t the best advice because accessories have the ability to really make or break any outfit, but it’s how I’ve always been. If I find a shoe with a considerable heel that’s comfortable, I’ll wear it until I no longer can. This season, I plan to spend some time channeling my inner accessor-ista (that’s not a word). With that, I have styled my simple rich brown colored blouse with my favorite black denim and my FAVORITE accessory yet: this envelope belt-bag. Or, as I like to call it: a fanny pack. Any accessory that allows me to be handsfree, I’m on board. I actually have several fanny packs, but with funky colors and patterns. This one, I can actually wear to the bar and it will actually complement my outfit. I’ll absolutely be styling this blouse in multiple ways and can’t wait to share some of my fall favorites this season. Happy fall, Y’all! Too much, right?
