COMFORT FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Details: H&M High Ankle Jeans, here | Boohoo Pastel Panel Chunky Trainers, here | American Eagle Henley Crew Neck Sweater, here |

It’s already Thanksgiving and I’m heading home to NJ to spend time with family and get some much needed R&R. When I was younger, we used to go to my Aunt’s house for Thanksgiving every other year and I always got dressed up to go and post up in the living room, sit around the dinner table with family and stuff my face until I had no choice but to unbutton my pants. It’s pretty much the same at my mom’s house except we’ve kind of done away with the whole getting dressed up. It’s all about eating and feeling as comfortable as possible doing so. Now, that by no means wearing sweatpants or PJs to the dinner table (we’re not savages), but it does mean wearing what makes you feel good. I usually try to wear my most worn in stretchy jeans and a cozy knit–it works every time. This year, I’m sure I’ll wear some variation of that, but what I do plan to wear for some weekend shopping, is this comfy AF outfit. These light-wash retro high-waisted jeans from H&M are nearly as comfortable as my favorite pair of leggings, I’ve worn them almost every weekend to get errands done. Keeping with the comfort theme, I snatched up this cropped American Eagle crewneck sweater that is SUPER soft and so cozy. It comes in a few other colors, but this cream ivory color happens to be my favorite. It’s also not an overbearing sweater. You know those chunky sweaters that end up swallowing your face whole? I LOVE them, but when you’re in dressing room after dressing room trying on clothes, you need to wear something that doesn’t make you sweat and is easy to take on and off. Ease and efficiency wins the sales. Now, here is the REAL game changer: shoes. I ALWAYS (shamelessly) wear my UGGs when I’m chasing sales and running errands, but they don’t give me the lift a short person like me needs. Hello! We have to be able to reach those hard to reach sweaters and tops that they hang on walls so you have no choice but to find a salesperson to help or grab that hanger stick thing and get it yourself, like a god damn boss. So, after buying a pair of relatively high fashion NIKE sneakers from Nordstrom and returning them because they cut ankles up, I was on the hunt for the PERFECT fashion sneaker. Enter these pastel chunky trainers from BOOHOO. Guys, they are SO comfortable and I love how they look with jeans, which is an added bonus. They also give me the perfect lift and the light pastel colors give outfits a much-needed pop. Honestly, if you’re like me and are pining for a platform sneaker, BOOHOO has a variety of really cute, comfortable AND affordable styles; you can’t go wrong. Now that I have my shopping outfit planned, I just need to figure out what my mom wants me to make for Thanksgiving…

Happy Turkey Day!

WIDE LEG CROPS AND A FAVORITE KNIT

Details: Ann Taylor wide leg crop pants with lace detail (older), equally cute style here | Melrose and Market via Nordstromrack cowl neck knit sweater, here | Franco Sarto via Marshall’s black tassel slides, similar here |

Given that the snow has yet to stop, I’m still wearing my chunky knits but baring some skin to let Mother Nature know that I’m ready for warmer temps. I have become somewhat addicted to wide leg crop pants. Not only are they super comfortable, but they look so stylish on and have the ability to bring a casual outfit up a notch. Instead of my standard pumps, I went with slides (staying on the comfort theme) and I felt super cozy but also extremely stylish. I’m hoping I never have to pull on this grey cowl neck sweater (even though it’s amazingly comfy) until next winter. I will, however, be wearing these wide leg crops well into the spring…if that season ever decides to make an appearance.

BRIGHT ON!

Details: Forever 21 Ribbed Multicolor Sweater, similar here | American Eagle High-Waisted jeans, similar here | Forever 21 Faux Leather Combat Boots, here

Guys! It was unexpectedly 70-degrees yesterday and I couldn’t even believe it. Today is supposed to be just as warm, but my pale skin is not prepared for gorgeous sunshine and blue skies. That being said,  I won’t be donning shorts, skirts or dresses, but instead, I will channel the brighter weather with this multicolor cropped sweater and bold yellow drop earrings. I always seem to channel retro 70’s style, and I think it’s because I love wearing bright colors and letting my hair flow in waves. I ditched bell bottoms for tapered high-waisted skinny jeans and slid on some combat boots, making this an elevated 2018 70’s inspired look, right?! Once my skin is tanner, I can wear this sweater layered under overalls and over a cute denim dress…the options are endless! I’m also not getting too excited about these warmer temps in February because we’re supposed to get some snow on Thursday. Thanks for the reality check, Mother Nature!

Hope your day is filled with sunshine, whether it’s from within or outside. Shine on my beautiful babes!

SPREAD LOVE & WEAR HEARTS

Details: French Connection striped heart sweater, here | Black Banana Republic skirt (old), similar here | Anne Klein polka dot tights, similar here | Black Sperry boots, similar here |

Oh, February, the month of love! It’s so funny.  I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day, even sans boyfriend. When I was younger, my mom always made Valentine’s Day a thing (she still does to this day). She’d make a special red or pink treat, buy me cute Valentine’s Day-themed gifts and it always felt like such a happy day to me. My mom’s Valentine’s Day gifts continued on through college and as a result, I became a Valentine’s Day ambassador myself. I don’t think Valentine’s Day needs to solely be about the love for your partner, but more about spreading love to the ones you care about. The ones who pick you up when you’re down, who make you laugh when you’re mad, the friends who listen and give advice. Take this Valentine’s Day to let all of the ones you love that you care about them and appreciate them. Yes, you should do that every day, but if you don’t already do that, let this be a reminder.

In addition to giving and getting gifts of love on Valentine’s Day, I always love to wear heart-themed clothing. I came across this French Connection sweater in Steinmart, and it had this must-have 90’s appeal. I can see Kelly Kapowski wearing this on Saved by the Bell or DJ Tanner, in her high school years. I just love it! It’s got a classic appeal to it and I decided to make it appropriate for the workplace with a fitted black skirt. The polka dot tights offer some fun and I went with booties instead of pumps to keep it casual. Now, would this be something I would wear on Valentine’s Day date night? Probably not…maybe just the sweater with some jeans; the skirt is just too work-esque for V-Day.

So, if you’ve been one of those Valentine’s Day scrooges, maybe give one of your friends a call or write a note to your parents, letting them know you appreciate them. It will go a long way.

Happy Monday loves! Spreading love and happiness your way. Own the work week and kick some butt!!

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER MOCK NECK SWEATER

Details: Nordstrom Rack John & Jenn Instaria Mock Neck Sweater, here | Madewell High-Rise Skinny Jeans in black sea, here | Black Mule Pumps (old), similar here

We’re seeing spring-like temps here in Boston, but I’m not convinced it’s sticking around. I know I’ve been MIA lately, and that’s mostly because it has been so difficult to get motivated with these dark, cold winter days. I’ve been wearing a combination of over-sized sweaters and denim on repeat, and one of my favorites is this grey and black mock neck sweater from Nordstrom Rack. I love how it looks on and instead of pairing it with my typical wedge booties, I decided to whip out my black mule pumps to add a level of sass and sophistication. I really love how sleek and sexy this look is with the added touch of some ripped jeans and skin-bearing pumps…it truly makes such a difference.

I’m trying to get back on track with my blog. It’s been so difficult to get motivated, and while I have some photos in my arsenal, I just haven’t been motivated enough to find the time. I’ve realized that I haven’t been putting my all into this and it’s showing. As a resolution, I’m going to be a concerted effort to be more consistent and add some more personal touches to blog, in an effort to let you into my life. That being said, I’m making some changes and will be focused on getting back to a more consistent schedule. This is more for me than anything. I’ve really enjoyed blogging and it’s something I’ve become super passionate about but it’s difficult to keep things consistent while balancing an extremely demanding job.

Now that I got that off my chest, I’m wishing you all a warm week and a successful one. Kick ass, babes!

THINK WARM THOUGHTS, THINK WARM THOUGHTS

Details: Cable Chenille A-Line Sweater Tunic, here| Camel suede wedge booties, similar here |

I am SO over the cold and the snow. It was cute when it was flurrying during the holidays and went away the next morning. But this, what we’re seeing in Boston, is criminal. Not only did we get a foot of snow, but then it was 0-degrees this morning. ZERO DEGREES. So now all of the snow is frozen solid making it a mean rude snow, instead of a soft and cuddly one. I haven’t figured out a way to keep warm, aside from staying inside. I truly haven’t. Last night we walked to a restaurant and my legs were burning, they got so cold. Like frostbite through my jeans. But if there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s dressing for indoor winter temps. I have been LIVING in this ivory chenille knit tunic. It is so comfortable and its A-Line shape makes it super flattering. Fortunately, we’re going to be seeing balmy temps of 36 to 40-degrees this week and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll still be complaining about the cold but at least my face and legs won’t hurt.

Send help and thoughts of sunshine my way!

A HOLIDAY SEASON MUST-HAVE

Details: Nordstrom/Chelsea28 Off the Shoulder dress, here |

The holiday season is finally here and that means Hallmark Christmas movies, over-eating and festive dresses. I always purchase dresses during this time of year and I constantly tell myself: “I’m going to wear this every year. It’s timeless and so perfect.” But what do I end up doing? Purchasing several new dresses along with new shoes and makeup, only to do it all again next season. I’m aware that it’s an unhealthy vicious cycle, but there are worse things in the world. Anyway, I actually purchased this dress for a September wedding…SEE! More than one use! I love it because it’s laid back with bare shoulders, but it’s formal fit and flare bell sleeves make it sophisticated and irresistibly sweet. Oh, and a side note, two women who attended the same wedding were wearing the same dress, but in black. While I like the black, it just doesn’t do it for me. A dress fit this stunning deserves a vibrant color. Not only is it available in this eye-popping red, but there’s also a stunning emerald green…perfect for this time of year! One thing I was concerned about when I purchased this beauty, was if it would slip on and off my shoulders and make me uncomfortable and frustrated. I can honestly say, I’ve never encountered a more secure off-the-shoulder top or dress, and I’m not kidding. It’s tightly fitted, but not restrictive and it is SO comfortable. I could wave my hands in the air without any pulling, pinning or primping–total perfection!

If you haven’t gotten your holiday outfits already, I highly suggest that you get your hands on this dress! Be bold and go for red or green… or BOTH!

Happy holiday dress shopping! Tell me: what are your favorite holiday season duds?!

BEST OF BLAZER 2017

Details: Target plaid boyfriend blazer, here | H&M ivory skirt, similar here

I love a good blazer and I’m also partial to oversized garments, so you can imagine how excited I was when I received this grey blazer for my birthday. Whether it’s a pair of boyfriend jeans or a chunky knit, and I can live in it, it has to be mine! When I first styled this blazer I paired it with high waisted black denim pants and a black shirt…super classic and the comfortable option. But when I decided to style it again, I really wanted to be a little less predictable. I slipped on this H&M ivory skirt, the same black top and slid on my OTK black suede boots–can you say perfection? I love the longer length of this blazer because it allows you to pair it with a dress, skirt AND your favorite denim pants. Neutral colors are my thing so the fact that this blazer is black, white and grey makes it easy to pair with a variety of colors. You can go bold with a vibrant red or soft with ivory or black–the options are limitless. Not only does this blazer look great, but it’s super comfortable and almost feels like a cozy cardigan instead of a blazer.

That being said, I think it’s safe to say this will be a timeless staple for many fall/winter seasons to come.

LET QUILTED COAT & VEST SEASON BEGIN

Details: Ann Taylor bonfire sweater, here | Quilted down coat in Peat c/o J.Jill, here |

So we’ve had a few true fall days, but it looks like we’re going to be back in the 80-degree weather today. I don’t know about you, but I find it super frustrating planning my outfit in the morning because I’m cold when I wake up and sweating on my lunch break. Despite what we might be experiencing, the season we’re currently in is in fact fall. And that means that we’re in quilted coat season. Every fall I seem to get myself a new quilted coat and this olive green lightweight down coat from J.Jill has become my favorite. It’s super lightweight and breathable so it’s actually easy to wear in this flighty weather. I typically gravitate toward taupe or black, but I’m loving this dark olive green color because it’s neutral yet adds a necessary pop of color. Speaking of color, this Ann Taylor Bonfire sweater is AMAZING. It’s a 70’s throwback (I think LOL). I love the vintage look and the pop of color really brightens up my neutral fall wardrobe. It’s comfortable and fun to layer with a quilted coat, denim jacket or puffer vest–HELL YES!

I think it’s safe to say that my fall closet is starting to come together, we just need Mother Nature to cooperate.

NEVER ENOUGH CLOTHES

Details: LOFT Striped Drop Shoulder sweater, here | LOFT leggings in seamed ponte, here

I’m having one of those “I don’t have enough fall clothes moments,” which I know is completely crazy but I just feel like when fall rolls around I never have enough sweaters that I truly love. After cleaning out my closet a couple weeks ago, I really did get rid of a good chunk of clothes and started to narrow down what is worth keeping. It’s super difficult for me to purge clothing because I always think there’s still a chance I could wear something again which is more likely than not, never the case. I kicked off my fall shopping at LOFT and picked up a few must-haves including this super chic striped sweater. I really love the wide sleeves and the high mock neck. I put together an ultra simple look that includes these super comfy black LOFT leggings. I’ve been relying on the same pair of black leggings from J.Crew, but they’ve had their day and now I’m swapping them out for this new crisp black pair. They’re super comfortable and have been my go-to when I’m not in the mood to rock denim.

I’m still working on the perfect fall wardrobe, but until then I will continue to lose some of those not-so-must-haves currently hanging in my closet. Wish me luck!
