MY VIA DE’ GINORI DRESS

Details: Terracotta Polka Dot Tea Dress c/o Pretty Little Thing, here | Franco Sarto Takara Espadrille Sandal via DSW, here|

This dress is called the Terracotta Tea dress and while I don’t believe I’ve been to an authentic tea party (at least not in my adult life), I’m not sure I imagine myself in this while sipping tea across from the Queen. When I think Terracotta, I think of the Italian dessert, Panna Cotta. And when I first saw this dress, its name after Terracotta, the clay, I instantly imagined myself wearing it while running errands in the streets of Florence, Italy. I’m not sure why, but I could see myself walking down those quaint Italian streets with fresh mozzarella cheese and a warm loaf of bread. I thought of the apartment on Via de’ Ginori where I lived while studying abroad, and those hellish stairs I used to climb in the scorching summer heat. Sitting in the kitchen with new friends laughing about the day’s events, planning the evening’s and sipping on wine and cheese. Sometimes it hurts how much I miss that place. It was so special and surreal. I love that this dress evokes those memories. It makes it one of my favorites.

Do you have clothing like that? Garments that conjure up memories? Treasure them.

THE BEST FRIEND OF DRESSES

Details: Blue Floral Flare Sleeve High Neck Frill Hem Dress c/o Pretty Little Thing, here |

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: a good dress is like a good friend. It will complement you and make you feel confident, secure, comfortable and happy. This dress probably takes the number one best friend stop. First of all, I love a high neck, so…CHECK! Even though it’s long sleeve the material is super lightweight and it’s NOT see through. I love the blue, but it also comes in a lemon yellow. It’s definitely romantic dress and somewhat whimsical. I feel like it’s something the lead character of a Netflix modern day Cinderella remake would wear. I think it will be perfect for bridal and baby showers, and potentially weddings. I went with my comfy heeled mules but you could also opt for a strappy nude or white sandal. I haven’t really experienced clothing from Pretty Little Thing until now, and I have to be honest, it’s pretty much a game changer, especially if you’re into fast fashion. The prices are reasonable and the quality is super. I feel like if Pretty Little Thing needed a spokes-dress it would be this one. It is the epitome of a “pretty little thing.”

Stay tuned for more SUPER pretty little things!

NOT YOUR NEPHEW’S CAPE

DSC_0712editedDSC_0709editedDSC_0708editedDSC_0679editedDSC_0760editedDSC_0762editedDSC_0783editedDetails: Open Front Casual Cape Blazer c/o Rosegal, here | Essential White Shirt c/o J.Jill, here  |

I’ve worn it all! From ponchos to outlandish jumpsuits; every new style trend there is, I’ve tried at least once. Which is why I had to give this black blazer cape a try, especially since it has been flooding my Instagram feed. I’m a big fan of a classic black blazer so this wasn’t too difficult for me to adjust to. However, Josh isn’t a huge fan; he thinks I look like Dracula. And now when I slip this on, that’s all I can think about (eye roll). If this blazer cape didn’t have the pronounced shoulder shape, I don’t think I would like it as much. The sleek shoulder point really gives this blazer a high fashion vibe. Although I decided to pair it with a more casual ensemble, it would look just as perfect layered over a red dress, (Valentine’s Day idea) or any bold color for that matter. Initially, when I was planning to style this outfit I had a black top underneath, but it didn’t give the cape the appropriate air time it deserved. So, I relied on my one of my favorite classics: a white oxford shirt. While I have many white button downs, this one from J.Jill, appropriately named ‘Essential White Shirt’,  is my recent go-to. It fits perfectly and J.Jill offers petite sizing so it’s the perfect length for my torso and arms. Josh’s comments aside, this cape is definitely a keeper and if you haven’t given it a shot, go for it!

LOVE N’ LEMONS

Another summer weekend has come and gone, and as I gear up for this Monday morning I’m trying my best to remain as calm and relaxed as I was lounging by the pool this weekend. Fat chance, I know! But it’s worth a shot. I’ve actively been trying to stress less about work and even continue to give myself pep talks, I.e. “You’ve got this!” or “Don’t forget to breathe.” Listen, I’m being a bit melodramatic, but sometimes I over stress and need a real reminder to not take everything so seriously. Which is why I’ve been getting myself back into a yoga routine, and Monday seems to be the best day for me. No matter how shitty my day may be going, I tell myself: “I’ll be at yoga soon; just breathe.” It works! Not to mention, thinking of fun memories from the weekend also helps take the edge off. While home this weekend we celebrated my brother’s birthday with family and close friends. And as soon as I saw everyone, I was reminded of what is ACTUALLY important in life. It’s not that unbearable client or the gift guide pitch; it’s family. I’m so lucky to be surrounded and supported by such amazing people. I know it sounds super cliche, but it just feels good knowing that no matter what happens, you have a group of awesome people that will always love and care about you. Because of this, I felt it was only appropriate to begin my week with this off the shoulder lemon print top. Simply because lemons are a symbol of eternal love. Now, when I’m stressing through Monday, I can look to my top and remind myself that no matter what happens, I’ve got a crazy, amazing, loving group of “lemons” by my side every step of the way.

Take that, Monday!

CHIC IN CHAMBRAY

DSC_0990editedDSC_0987new new neweditedDSC_1035editedDSC_1054edited newDetails: Chambray dress from Marshall’s, similar here | Franco Sarto wedges, similar here |

The summer has been crazy busy and I am sad to admit that I haven’t been on my blog game. I let this amazing beach weather get the best of me, and I just haven’t been as motivated to keep my blog going. Not only are there family  get-togethers almost every weekend, but Josh and I are preparing to move in together on September 1st and you don’t really realize how much there is to think about until you’re in it. Regardless, here I am, and I’m determined to get back into my blog post routine. Now, on to today’s outfit. The last time I was home, I went to the Marshall’s and found this adorable chambray dress for $16.99 and knew it would become one of my favorite summer staples. When my mom saw the dress draped over my arm, she immediately recalled a similar dress that she used to have. I feel like I hear her say this more often than not and I’m always annoyed that she didn’t save any of her favorites. All fashions come full circle, ya know! And I love high neck dresses and especially love the narrow cut of the top of this one; it’s sexy and sophisticated. With summer BBQs in full force, it’s safe to say I’ll be wearing this every weekend and even well into September.

Happy summer! Enjoy the sunshine while you can.

ALL HAIL THE HOODIE

DSC_1487editedDSC_1479editedDSC_1498editedDSC_1486editedDSC_1518editedDSC_1508editedDSC_1523editedDetails: Tab-sleeve knit hoodie c/o J.Jill, here | American Eagle cut-off denim shorts, similar here |

Have never been more ready for the weekend than I am right now. I legit feel as though I’m living for the weekend lately and I haven’t really had much time to enjoy Boston. I’ve been on-the-go non-stop and I can’t wait for these weekends to slow down so I can enjoy my lifeless beach days again. This weekend, Josh and I are heading up to NH for a wedding and while I’m excited to celebrate the bride and groom, I was hoping for a weekend where I could live in jean shorts and college tees. Fortunately, we will have some time to enjoy the lake and I obviously made sure I packed my favorite denim shorts and this tab-sleeve knit hoodie. It’s one of my favorite hoodies for the summer because it’s not as bulky as your typical sweatshirt and it’s ten times cuter. I also might add that it looks AWESOME with a good tan. I’ve been wearing it for various summer outings, from late night beach walks to casual dinner dates–it’s perfect to fight off a summer chill or to seek refuge from the sun. I think it’s safe to say this is a sure-fire summer staple. Now, excuse me while I get on with my busy weekend!

TAKING IT OFF (THE SHOULDER)

DSC_1531editedDSC_1539 copy editedDSC_1530editedDSC_1537editedDSC_1559editedDSC_1560editedDSC_1564 (1)editedDSC_1564 (1)editedDSC_1567editedDetails: Goodnight Macaroon ‘Riley’ Chambray Off the Shoulder Top, here  | American Eagle white denim Artist Crop pants, here | Carmen Saiz metallic gold slip ons via Marshall’s, similar here |

Yesterday was the most miserable work day yet. It was painful getting out of bed after such a great holiday weekend, and I know that it wasn’t just me because everyone at work was just as miserable, if not more. Funny enough, I didn’t wear a single outfit I had planned to wear this weekend. When you’re on a lake and the only thing you need is a bathing suit during the day and a sweatshirt at night, there’s nothing more you need. It kind of felt good to just not think about what I was wearing. I wore two bathing suits all weekend and the same sweatshirt. While I enjoyed the simple and lax lake dress code, I did miss wearing this chambray off the shoulder top. It’s one of my favorite summer garments this season and these white denim Artist Crop pants are the perfect counterpart. It’s a simple classic look, but also sexy and sweet at the same time. It can be worn just as easily at a family BBQ as it can at your favorite intimate Italian restaurant. Instead of standard wedges, I went with these metallic gold slip-ons that I scored at Marshall’s. I especially love the white sole and espadrille combination–it elevates the slip-on. Since I didn’t don this outfit this holiday weekend, you can be sure that I will be wearing it several times this summer–maybe even too much!

COAT CARDIGAN ROMANCE

DSC_0041 editedDSC_0043 editedDSC_0057 editedDSC_0008 editedDSC_0093 editedDSC_0082 editedDSC_0075Details: Knitted long sleeve solid coat cardigan c/o New Chic, here | H&M taupe mock neck turtleneck, similar here | The Billie Plaid Booties in brown, here |

I haven’t stopped eating since I’ve been home; everything tastes so much better around the holidays lol. My outfit during this time of year typically depends on how much and what I plan to eat that day. For instance, Christmas Day I was ready to feast so I donned my snowman leggings and a cozy knit. Since the weather has been SO unpredictable, I’ve found that a go-to cardigan is necessary. This grey coat cardigan may as well be stapled to my body considering I haven’t taken it off. The cool tone grey color complements a variety of tops, casual or elegant. I was concerned at first about the size being ‘ONE SIZE’, but I was pleased to see that it hangs perfectly, hitting right above the knee. Oh AND, if you’ve noticed, I changed up my typical taupe suede booties! I got these brown ‘Billie Plaid Booties’ from Spool No. 72 for Christmas and they may just be my new favorite.  I love their neutral brown color and they’re ALMOST as comfortable as my slippers–(not kidding)! I think these will be the new over worn booties this season…. stay tuned!

NAVY KNITS + CORDS

DSC_0458DSC_0455DSC_0450DSC_0506DSC_0502Details: T.J. Maxx grey multi color wool scarf, similar here | Navy shaker-stitch topper c/o J.Jill, here | Gap high-waisted corduroys, here |

I don’t really know what’s going on with this weather lately, but my wardrobe is just as confused as I am. One minute I’m coatless and the next I’m bundled up to my eyeballs. Fortunately, it looks like we’re going to have a fairly mild Christmas this year. I’m okay with that because I know these temps won’t last long. Despite the wardrobe confusion, one knit that has remained a constant  is this navy shaker-stitch topper from J.Jill. I especially love its double shawl collar and classic shaker stitching. It’s warm enough to wear without a coat (for now) and easy enough to dress up for special holiday occasions.

FEELING CHUNKY

DSC_0545DSC_0523DSC_0538DSC_0574DSC_0572DSC_0564DSC_0581Details: Chunky knit sweater, similar here | Garage Clothing boyfriend jeans, similar here | Superga slip-on sneakers c/o J.Jill, here |

When I made the decision to move to Boston I was prepared to constantly be donning  chunky knits (even more so than I already was). However, the recent mild December weather has had me ditching my sweaters for light blouses and quilted coats. I know  the cold weather will eventually catch up to us, so I wanted to give my favorite over-sized knit some love before it’s too cold to wear it solo. I don’t know if you’ve realized, but I’m borderline obsessed with high-neck sweaters and this one is the ULTIMATE high neck sweater. It’s by far the coziest knit I’ve ever owned and it has a zipper front so it can serve as an overcoat for warmer winter days. On the weekend, you’ll typically find me in my boyfriend jeans and if I could wear them every day I would. They are the perfect counterpart to oversized knits and will forever be an all-seasons staple. Give yourself the gift of chunky sweaters this season, see some of my favorites here, here and here!
