THE SEASON FOR CHANGE…AND FANNY PACKS

Details: Relaxed Shirttail Blouse c/o J.Jill, here | Envelope Belt-Bag c/o J.Jill, here | Madewell High-Rise Jeans in Black Sea, here |

So September is over…that lasted all of two minutes. I think it’s because we still had some lingering hot days that it didn’t quite feel like fall. Not only is October the month of my birthday, but it’s also just the BEST month ever! Seriously. Let’s talk about October for a minute. The air gets crisp, leaves are in full fall color, farms are open for pumpkin and apple picking, hot cider and cider doughnuts are within reach–need I say more?! Everything about it is perfect. Another thing about fall is the change that seems to follow me around during these fall months. It’s funny.  Every career/life move I’ve made has either fallen in September or October. And this October, I will be starting a new position at a really cool company in downtown Boston. Those who know me know that change is difficult for me, well it’s difficult for most, but especially for me. The only change I like is the change in seasons, to be honest. What can I say? I’m a creature of habit. However, I’ve been long overdue for some change. In fact, this move has me feeling more inspired and excited than ever. In the past, there were times where I constantly doubted myself or my decision, but that hasn’t happened once in this process. I think it’s safe to say that means it’s the right move. I read a quote the other day that said: “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.” I can really relate to that. For a while, I’ve been feeling complacent and less motivated, and now I have the opportunity to start something new and learn from new people; I am super excited to start this brand new adventure. One chapter closed, on to the next one.

Now, enough about my life changes and more about this simple fall look. When it comes to outfits, I’m the type of person who focuses solely on the entree, and less on the sides. LOL. Does that make sense? I spend most of my energy focusing on the top and bottom and much less on the accessories and shoes. This isn’t the best advice because accessories have the ability to really make or break any outfit, but it’s how I’ve always been. If I find a shoe with a considerable heel that’s comfortable, I’ll wear it until I no longer can. This season, I plan to spend some time channeling my inner accessor-ista (that’s not a word). With that, I have styled my simple rich brown colored blouse with my favorite black denim and my FAVORITE accessory yet: this envelope belt-bag. Or, as I like to call it: a fanny pack. Any accessory that allows me to be handsfree, I’m on board. I actually have several fanny packs, but with funky colors and patterns. This one, I can actually wear to the bar and it will actually complement my outfit. I’ll absolutely be styling this blouse in multiple ways and can’t wait to share some of my fall favorites this season. Happy fall, Y’all! Too much, right?

ACTUAL OOTD…FOR REAL

Details: Top Shop red Wrap Waist top via Nordstrom, here | Dark wash Gap jeans, similar here | Charming Charlie yellow floral earrings, similar here | Tommy Hilfiger via DSW taupe suede ‘Venture’ pumps, here |

Guys, Happy Valentine’s Day! Hoping you took my advice from Monday’s post and have decided to spread some love this month, week or day :). While I’m TOTALLY into wearing heart/V-Day inspired clothing, I decided to tap my sophisticated side and wear this classic red wrap waist top and my favorite jegging jeans (yes jegging jeans from GAP…sue me!) to my Valentine’s Day date tonight. I love this top. You can’t see, but it ties in the back, making the front as fitted as you’d like with some flattering ruching. I love the orange undertones in this red color and how nicely it falls above my jeans. Because I was feeling even MORE color, I popped on these yellow floral earrings and added some beach waves to my locks. Instantly, I felt like I was owning the Valentine’s Day game…sexy red dresses are overrated. Because this look is all about color, I slid on my new taupe suede block heel pumps and voila! Cute comfort at its finest.

Now, if you don’t have a date or you aren’t going out with your Galentines, make sure you spread some love to the ones you care about and then get into something cozy, put on your best face mask and tune in to your favorite shows. You deserve some self-love and relaxation, today and every day!

MORE COMFORT, LESS MONDAY

Details: Neutral color-block cardigan (old), similar here, here and here | UNIQLO jogger pants, here |

Mondays are THE worst, especially now that it’s getting colder. Although my work dress code is super casual, I always feel like when I dress up for work, I feel better and more productive. Super weird, I know. So in an effort to kick off the work week, I pulled out this somewhat monochromatic look. Neutrals are my favorite so it shouldn’t be surprising that this neutral color-block cardigan has made it to my wardrobe from last season. Yep! That’s right. It escaped my closet purge, and for good reason. It is super comfortable and it goes with EVERYTHING. With the goal of comfort on my mind, I slipped on another last season favorite, my UNIQLO joggers. These light beige joggers aren’t just for summer but work just as well in the fall and winter months. This entire look depends on the shoes. If you glide on a backless loafer, it will look super casual and sweet, but as soon as you slip on a pump, you’ve upped your outfit game. These Ann Taylor neutral pumps are also unbelievably comfortable and I also purchased them, you guessed it, LAST SEASON. Well, if there’s one thing I get right on a Monday, it’s this outfit. Now let’s go kick some ass!

#SHOPPRU’S FALL FASHION EVENT

Details: LOFT skinny ankle pants in Marisa fit, here |  ZARA leather moto jacket, similar here | Photos by Jon Salas

So I’ve realized that I have a bit of a shopping problem. What can I say? I like clothes and the trends are changing, so a girl has to keep up, right!? When I lived at home in New Jersey there were three malls all within 20 minutes of my parents’ home–that’s just how Jersey works. I would make a weekend of mall-surfing; floating from mall to mall until I would find just what I “needed.” I know that I have to reign in my shopping habits, but I did clean out my closet this weekend so we’re making some progress, little progress, but progress nonetheless. Since living in Boston I’ve gone just about everywhere to fill my fashion fix, but The Shops at Pru has been my number one go-to. It has everything I could possibly need. From Ann Taylor to Club Monaco–they have everything! Not to mention, when I moved from NYC, I was bummed that I would no longer be able to meander around Eataly in Flatiron, BUT recently the Pru opened an Eataly, and I’m no longer without fresh pasta and biscotti.

If you’re like me and have already purged your closet to make room for fall favorites and trends, then I suggest you come to #ShopPru’s Fall Shopping event on Thursday, September 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The first 100 guests to arrive will receive a SWAG bag, there will be a prosecco bar provided by Eataly, mini makeovers from Sephora and more fun activations by a number of amazing brands! I’m going to scope out some more fall fashions…even though I should really quit while I’m ahead. I’m also planning on grabbing a bite to eat the new Earl’s Kitchen that just opened; will let you know how it is! Hope to see you there :).

Happy fall fashion shopping!

FALL FASHION TIP: GO BOLD

Details: Banana Republic floral strappy midi slip dress, here | Photos by Jon Salas

Everywhere I look there’s pumpkin spice this and salted caramel that. I think we all jumped the gun on whipping out the fall scented candles and fitted knits, myself included. Especially considering we’ll be experiencing 80-degree temps this week. While there have been SOME breezy days, there definitely haven’t been enough to be convinced that fall is here to stay. Despite this un-fall like weather, I’ve been stopping by all of my favorite brands and have begun planning my fall closet and pinpointing my fall necessities. It’s true, my typical fall must-haves would include a neutral colored chunky knit, some booties and a long sleeve fitted tee, but with the weather being so fickle, I haven’t stopped getting my hands on sleek strappy dresses. This floral midi dress makes me feel sexy and sophisticated at the same time. It’s effortless and as soon as you slip it on you feel as though you deserve to be strolling the small streets of Venice or sipping on some prosecco outside of a Parisian cafe. I’m serious, it has that effect. It’s bold and vibrant, and it’s so easy to have a closet full of three different shades of taupe and endless black knits and booties. However, I love wearing and playing with colors, especially ones as bold as this. AND if this dress is too colorful for you, it’s available in grey with blue and white flowers–super pretty as well! While I won’t be wearing this dress to work, it’s definitely one I will wear on a date night a drape over solid color scarf/pashmina because anything heavier or bulkier will distract from the beauty and flawlessness of the dress. Don’t be afraid to be bold with color this season and add something to your wardrobe that is a bit outside of your comfort zone, you’ll be surprised at how good you’ll feel and look–trust me!

Banana Republic sent me this dress in exchange for writing a review on my blog. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.

ROMPERS: THE NEVER-ENDING SUMMER TREND

Details: LOFT Tassled Off-the-Shoulder Romper, here | Rockport Cobb Hill Tropez High Vamp, here  |

Rompers are a girl’s best friend once the warm weather rolls around. They’re undeniably comfortable and you don’t have to worry about a summer breeze exposing you or being conscious of how you sit. And we all know that in addition to the romper trend, the off-the-shoulder trend is just as popular right now. Like I said last year: “shoulders are the new cleavage”, and it remains to be true this year too. OFTS tops share just enough skin to be sexy while allowing you to remain modest and classy. Although I’m known for going for bold colors and patterns when it comes to rompers, I love that this one is black and can be easily dressed up or down. Lately, I’ve been on an earring kick and have been popping in some color that way. However, if casual is more your speed, throw on your favorite pair of flip flops and stroll on down to the beach–the options are endless. So, does anyone need more reason to go out and get your romper on? I didn’t think so.

GO WITH THE (FLO)RAL

Details: Soft Rayon-Twill Full-Leg Crops (floral) c/o J.Jill, here |

This weekend was a scorcher…finally! So naturally, I spent both Saturday and Sunday basking on the beach and enjoying the warmth. There was such a nice breeze by the water that it was difficult to gauge how much sun I was getting and I ended up a little crisp. Now that the weather is finally feeling like the way it’s supposed to, I’ve been excited to try out new outfits. I’ve always been a fan of cropped flowy culottes and these tropical ones from J.Jill have become an all time summer favorite. They are super light weight and breezy. In addition to this funky floral pattern, they are also available in some neutral solids as well as in a deep blue pattern. I paired them with a very fitted top, but I’ve also worn a fun looser fitting and fringe top and it looked just as good. I’ll definitely be experimenting with these this summer and may even purchase another pair (they’re that comfortable!).

Double DOSE OF DENIM

DSC_0331edited LRDSC_0337edited LRjpgDSC_0338edited LRDSC_0362edited LRDSC_0373edited LR

Details: Tencel Indigo Pullover c/o J.Jill, here |

At one point in style time, Canadian tuxedos were a serious faux pas, however, the times have changed and it is not stylishly acceptable to mix and match denim in one outfit. This Tencel Indigo Pullover Top is not as restricting as denim, but more lax and comfy. It is something that can be worn on a cozy day with sweats, or with your favorite pair of denim blues. I chose to style it with my favorite pair of legging jeans and broke the outfit up with a classic brown belt. I guess you can say, I’m going for a Western look–I don’t hate it! When wearing denim on denim, it’s important to style your blues appropriately. What I mean by that is, don’t try and match your denim top and bottom exactly. Go for a light and dark look. This way, you’re able to accessorize more and you won’t look overly monochromatic.

How do you feel about denim on denim? Share your style tips with me!

K. I’VE HAD ENOUGH.

Details: Easy Linen and Cotton Pullover c/o J.Jill, here | H&M short trench/overcoat, similar here |

There are so many changes happening at work and I’ve been getting antsy with this terrible weather we’ve been having; it feels like senioritis. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to kick my puffy winter coat, but that hasn’t stopped me from shopping around for cute lightweight trenches and overcoats. It all started when I was an hour early to my hair appointment that happened to be located in Boston’s biggest shopping destination: Newbury Street. I decided to kill time and walk across the street to H&M, when I came across this cream colored minimalist beauty. I had to try it on, just to see. I had no intention of making a purchase, but if the shoe fits! Am I right? I picked it up, put it down. Picked it up again, and clung to it when I saw other shoppers eyeing it. That’s it! I was sold. And I am not disappointed–it has been one of my favorite spring season purchases thus far. I layered it over a simple blue J.Jill pullover, allowing it to pop and what can I say, blue is my color. This sweater is one of my favorites because it hangs just in the right place, above my waist. It’s linen and cotton, making it airy and easy to wear in the warmer months (whenever they decide to show up). While I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring weather, I’m making due with cute staples like these. Don’t you worry, bank account there will be many more spring purchases to be had!

NEW SPRING CO-ORD SET

DSC_0506edited copyDSC_0525editedpicmonkey copyDSC_0500PMNEWDSC_0569LRDSC_0577LRUPDATEDDetails: Black and white co-ord set c/o Dresslily, here |

The warm weather last week was such a tease. I was actually convinced that winter was finally over, but boy was I wrong. Yesterday, I tried to get away with wearing just a tee and I was LITERALLY shivering. And while I definitely have to wait to wear a two-piece bathing suit, I think maybe, just maybe I can start wearing co-ord sets like this one from Dresslily. It’s SO comfortable and I really love the white details–it makes it classy. The model on the website shows this set with full-on belly showing, but it’s not necessary. I mean, if you’re into that then go for it, but it looks much better with the higher waisted skirt allowing the top to overlay. It doesn’t feel like I can wear this today, but I think we’re supposed to hit 60-degrees on Wednesday, fingers crossed! I’m completely over wearing chunky knits and puffer vests, so I’m ready to kick off my spring wardrobe with more sets like these. What are your spring wardrobe plans!? Maybe if we talk enough about them the warm weather will stay put!
