A PRESENT PALETTE

I can’t believe October is over. This month was a especially crazy, with adjusting to my new city and getting a grasp on my new job. It just felt like there was no time to slow down and just enjoy the fresh air and the walk from the office to my car—the little things. For the month of November, I vow to take some time to be present, and enjoy the moment. In terms of my wardrobe, I’ve been wearing out my dark wash denim skinny jeans and it’s getting tired. My standard fall color palette needed a boost, which is why these powder gray gap jeans are the perfect inclusion to my monotonous closet. I paired them with my trusted chambray shirt and with it being coat season, layered on my treasured cocoon in sandstone.  This was the color palette I needed to get me out of my fall wardrobe funk. It’s refreshing, and breaks up the expected fall color combos. Make some bold statements this season, whether it’s as small as purchasing a  pair of lighter wash jeans than your used to, or you’re venturing far outside your comfort zone–go bold. Oh, and don’t forget to take time to be present and enjoy the moment–you never get it back.

GREAT LENGTHS

DSC_0313 editedDSC_0336 editedDSC_0338editedDSC_0357 editedDSC_0356 editedDetails: Shirt dress c/o YOINS, here | Primark booties, similar here |

I’m always looking for fall dresses that can add some variety to my wardrobe. Instead of the typical LBD or belted denim jumper, I wanted something that could transition easily from work to play. When I came across this chiffon long shirt dress from YOINS, I was instantly drawn to its neutral hue and sexy slit.  It’s definitely a dress you need a slip with, so I layered it over a fitted ivory tank dress and it worked out relatively well. However, I would try to find a longer, looser slip for future wear because the fitted one kept rising. I know I’m over wearing these Primark wedge booties, but they’re too perfect not to, and while I should be giving my other shoes some love, they’re just too comfortable and perfect to take off. It’s safe to say that everyone has a favorite fall bootie they can’t get enough of, mine’s just more obvious than most. And if you’re in the market for some new fall clothes, I can’t talk enough about how reasonably price and perfect YOINS clothing is, it’s your one stop shop for all of your fall wardrobe needs.

I like to call this outfit my uniform; let’s be serious we all have certain colors we know look best on us and fits that are most comfortable. My colors happen to be neutrals: taupe, brown, ivory, caramel–they’re what i’m drawn to and what I feel complement my skin tone best. This slouchy sweater from H&M is an absolute favorite of mine. Baggy sweaters have a tendency to look sloppy or ill-fitting however the shorter length of this one and chunky sleeves make it perfectly flattering.

Honestly, I don’t think corduroys will ever go out of style I fondly remember my wearing my boot cut cords in 3rd grade. As you can see, they have certainly evolved since then, not to mention they are UNBELIEVABLY comfortable. I’m vertically challenged so a heel is always necessary, but comfort is important and these booties are so incredible that I can sleep in them, I swear.

And this wouldn’t be my uniform without a statement piece! Since working at Ladyfingers boutique, a local gem in my town I’ve become somewhat of a hoarder of chunky necklaces. This one in particular is an integral part of many of my outfits. In this instance, it gives this sweater an element of sophistication and class. Your uniform should touch on important pieces of your personality, while still remaining true to your style requirements i.e. comfort, class, sophistication etc. Hope you like mine, share your uniforms with me!
