We had a teensy bit of snow last night and since I wasn’t driving in it I was pretty giddy! Snow can be so peaceful but so chaotic at the same time. That’s kind of how I feel this week; lax laid back tired, but beyond chaotic and stressed. I don’t know what it is, but I am really not feeling 100% like myself. All I really want to do is wear chunky knits and (yoga) pants; it’s just that kind of week I guess. My boyfriend always tells me that I have 10 of the same sweater and he has a point; I can’t turn down a neutral chunky knit. To me, neutral knits are just so beautifully practical, so you can be sure that this beige Banana Republic carpet-stitch open cardigan was number one on my Christmas list. In addition to its neutral beige color, its large open collar makes it easy to wear with a variety of tops. I’m honestly not sure what I’ll be wearing for the rest of this chilly week, but if it were socially acceptable I would wear this cardigan until spring. Bring on the cozy!

I’ve been wanting to get knee high boots for quite some time now. I missed out last season, but I was determined to get my hands on some early in the game. Immediately, I started my search at Lulu’s. It’s my go to for reasonably priced fashion finds because the quality is good and I’m never disappointed with my selections. These black boots come in tan (which I might also consider) and comfortable is an understatement. The chunky heel provides strong support and their sleek enough to wear casually and dressed up. My brown JOA sweater dress is another Lulu’s purchase. It’s cozy and neutral which are my two main fall wardrobe requirements. Despite it being oversized and a bit slouchy, it’s extremely flattering with its side slits and low hem. I’m pretty sure my fall wardrobe is finally complete with these knee highs, although I could use more sweaters, tops and dresses LOL. To Be Continued…..

This time last week I was packing and planning for a getaway in Cancun, Mexico (sigh)— what I would give to be beachside with a mudslide in hand right now. Just to catch you up, my boyfriend and I went to Cancun and stayed at an amazing all inclusive, Fiesta Americana Condesa. This was the second all inclusive I’ve stayed at and I have to say I would go back again and again and again–hahah! The resort was absolutely beautiful and the weather did not disappoint (stay tuned for a full review later this week). Back to the outfits, it’s not too difficult to plan looks for a trip to Mexico; bras are optional and no matter what you’ll never be considered underdressed. My white maxi dress was definitely the star of my vacation wardrobe, it hid my sunburnt knees and is light enough to feel comfortable in the blissful heat. Honestly, there’s nothing more necessary than a white dress for the summer months; it’s crisp, clean and sophisticated the perfect option for a BBQ or a night out in Mexico ;). I purchased this dress last year from Lulu’s and it’s Billabong, BUT I did include another amazing option, that I may have to purchase myself.

Stay tuned for more vacay looks this week!

I leave TOMORROW for Cancun and I just about have everything necessary packed. The weather we’re having today is uninspiring to say the least, but to lift our spirits I decided to share one of my warm day favs. This high neck black romper I scored at Marshall’s is a simple sophisticated choice and I’m currently debating whether or not I should bring it on vacation. On second thought, it may be too sassy for lax beachy vibes don’t you think?  I guess it deserves to remain in a city — made casual with my espadrille wedges. I’ve always been a dress girl, especially in the summer, but rompers have become my first choice this season. They’re comfortable and easy,  similar to dresses, some are flowy while others are body-con—the options are endless. I think this may even take the place of my LBD!

OH! and before I go scroll down to enter an amazing giveaway! It’s sure to make your Monday bearable 😉

I have been flirting with my spring wardrobe lately and been patiently waiting for Mother Nature to make up her mind. I finally decided I couldn’t wait any longer for her to get it together, and decided to break in my  new reversible Kora Rae, Lupita style crop top. I absolutely love its fit and reversibility— on one side it’s a faint pink/peach color as shown and on the other its a grey/beige shade.  Both are practical and easy to style, making this my go to crop top of the season. In an effort to combat the cold, I layered it over a creme lace long sleeved crop top and decided to bite the bullet and show some leg with with my ivory H&M skirt.

Mother Nature, I think it’s time to throw in the towel and let the sun prevail, we’ve suffered enough.

It’s Friday and you know how much I love a good transitional outfit, so that’s why I’m sharing this two piece beauty with you. This sleeveless black two piece set from Lulu’s can not only be worn  from winter to summer, but it also transitions from work to play. Fortunately, where I currently work this is acceptable, however I understand that may not be the case for all (I’m sorry!). Nonetheless, it’s a great staple to have for a night out! And to weather the cold I layered on my black and white H&M blazer, as the temps start to rise a bright pop of color over this set will look AMAZING.

My arsenal of work to play outfits is growing, and we all know Friday is the most important day of the week, so let’s make a statement.

How many hours of work are left?

Happy Friday! I decided to mix things up and add a fun patterned look in hopes of brightening up your day. Please don’t hate me, but this look is from Peter Pilotto for Target’s collection that launched last February for a limited time. I actually paired two separate pieces together —the dress is sleeveless with a shirt collar and it’s layered over a lace sleeved button down shirt of the same red, black, white and blue pattern.

While these pieces are no longer available, I did include a great patterned dress option from Lulu’s that I hope you’ll love. With February coming to a close and spring around the…corner, take a chance to brighten up your wardrobe and add pieces that’ll mix things up a bit. A good print always makes a strong statement, go easy on accessorizing and you’ll have a no fuss, flawless look.

Stay warm beauties!

I want to take a moment to shed some light on outerwear, since lately the weather has been destroying our winter fashion moments. Seriously, it’s cold and the sidewalks are full of slush and ice, there is absolutely no way you’re subjecting your heels to that. Not to mention, our cute wool coats get cast aside and in moves that warm and cozy puffer. There you are, walking to work resembling the Michelin Man; it’s okay we’ve all forfeited fashion for comfort at one point or another. But today, I really wanted to give one of my favorite outerwear pieces a moment to shine. This blush pink coat has a boxy/square silhouette making it oversized, but its lapel collar gives it that element of class making it a traditional outerwear staple. And to brighten up these grey days I paired it with my blue Ann Taylor ankle pants and oatmeal colored turtleneck. This is a rather cheerful outfit for the snowy grey days we’ve been seeing, I think spring is trying to peek through!

So, with that being said let’s all take a moment to revisit our beautiful wool peacoats seeking refuge in our closets and throw them on to grab a cup of coffee or get the mail. Just show them some love, but do not freeze please!

A Real World Downfall

Two words: Leather Leggings. Remember the glory days (hey nostalgia!) where yoga pants and black leggings were socially acceptable to wear to and from class? And then that fateful graduation day came along and the real world was all like “no more naps at 2pm, say goodbye to that two minute walk to your besties’, oh and NO MORE LEGGINGS!” and your just left standing there looking pitiful, in tears with your graduation cap and diploma in hand and worst of all—no leggings to comfort you.  Cruel world! But we all got through it, and all because of these beautiful LEATHER LEGGINGS.  The “khaki” pair above from ZARA is sophisticated enough for me to wear to work, but comfortable enough for weekend errands. I paired it with my brand new layered pullover from Banana, and I like this sweater most of all because of its sheer bottom. I like to call this my mullet of sweaters because its all practical, warm, and cozy on top and then a sheer sexy party on the bottom. Day or night, this is your no fuss sweater!

Current college students, if you take away one thing from this post let it be not to take leggings for granted, you truly don’t know what you have until its gone. While you can revisit your leggings on the weekend it’s just not the same…it’ll never be the same. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!
