As much as I love fall and all of the layers it brings, I always find myself wearing the same black or denim pants with some variation of a sweater. It gets tired, and while I can assure you I’m not at that point yet, I am always wracking my  brain for ways that I can incorporate a mini or a dress into the fall mix. I’ve had this one for almost a year now, and wasn’t able to get much use out of it, but it’s been revived and I decided to pair it with some knee high socks. Unfortunately, knee high socks don’t get the recognition they deserve, and many resort to them as a cozy comfort-wear option, but trust me, they’re making a comeback. What’s not to love? They break up the monotony of an outfit, keep you warm, AND give your tired black boots something to work with. If you’re considering incorporating some knee highs into your fall wardrobe, I suggest you head over to Chrissy’s Knee High Socks for inspiration. They have everything, from party starting doughnut patterns to classic argyle— covering all individual styles and personalities. Get your sock game on!

An Ode to My 2nd Grade Self

You know those outfits that make an impression on you? The ones that you keep reminiscing of over and over again and if you could you would just hug them, because they were just THAT amazing. The huggable outfit for me is that from my first day of 2nd grade, I’ll never forget it. I can see my second grade self now with my pink Gap skirt with small speckled flowers and a white ribbed gap shirt with a pink heart in the center (same shade of pink as the skirt don’t worry ;). Considering it was a chilly day in September I paired this ensemble with my white Keds, nude tights and white socks (like what?!). I think know the ankle socks with tights and Keds were a short-lived trend (thankfully) but I absolutely loved it.

I like to think of this outfit as the upgraded sequel to that one, the “Jackie Faces the Real World” look. Knee high socks are my new favorite accessory. Comfy and warm, they have the ability to take an average look to the next level. Sheer tights are my go to, I prefer them over opaque ones specifically because they give an outfit dimension and contrast. I dug into my spring wardrobe for this look considering the sleeveless white ZARA knit, EXPRESS shorts and denim shirt were all purchased this past spring. However, if you’re loving this look I’ve included some similar pieces in the links above.
