SALT AIR AND SEASIDE THERAPY

Details: Linen Full-Leg Seamed Crops c/o J.Jill, here | Light Essential Cardi c/o J.Jill, here

So…asking, believing and receiving beach weather didn’t really happen for me this weekend. I went to the beach, but instead of spending my days at the beach, I went outlet shopping instead…oops! I also spent some quality time with my parents and had a relaxing weekend doing everything I wanted to do…except lay out on the beach. The smell of salt air is soothing and it really is the best remedy for that post work stress. Lately, I’ve been on a comfort kick and have not stopped wearing these linen full-leg crops. They are SO comfortable and make the perfect coverup for the beach or for an evening out at your favorite seaside restaurant. I paired them with a classic tee and this adorable white gauzy cardigan. I’ve been wearing this cardigan with EVERYTHING. I love that it’s sheer, making it a little less formal than the classic solid cardigan. I am the definition of a beach bum. I can legitimately sit and lie on the beach all day from 9 to 5. I beach like it’s my job. I don’t need activities, I’ll dip in once it gets too hot, but I am perfectly content with my butt in the sand looking out into the ocean. What kind of beach person are you?

READY, SET, COAT SEASON!

Details: J.Jill grey ‘Chelsea’ coat, here | French Connection light oatmeal high-neck sweater via Marshall’s, here  |

The time has come for us to fully load our closets with warm knits, wool socks and of course, coats. I have a bit of a problem with all clothes, but coats are my biggest weakness. I can never seem to have enough and one of my latest finds is this dark grey button-front coat ‘Chelsea Coat’ from J.Jill. I really like that it’s an easy coat to layer and work with. What I mean by that is, it’s a coat that has a lot of flexibility, it’s much less stiff, which makes it perfect for crisp fall days like today. I layered it over a super comfy and ultr-soft sweater, which is pretty thick and I still felt free and could move my arms easily. I guess if I could describe this coat in one word it would be: comfort. I feel 100% comfortable and even though it feels lightweight, it keeps you warm. Not to mention, I love a good collar and this one screams sophistication, am I right?!

This will not be the only new coat in my closet this season, but it will absolutely be one of my favorites.

Tell me: what will be your go-to coat this fall!?

DON’T JUDGE A TREND BY ONE LOOK

Details: Almond green bomber jacket Marshall’s, similar here | Embroidered weekender jeans c/o J.Jill, here |

I’ll admit, I really wasn’t a fan of the bomber jacket trend. Not the traditional bomber jacket, but the lightweight bomber ones. There was something about them that I couldn’t take seriously. It was an episode of Southern Charm where Chelsea was wearing this really cute metallic blush bomber jacket, that I said I NEED one. I went to so many stores, scoured the internet for something similar but there was nothing. I actually gave up and quit my search until I walked into Marshall’s and stumbled upon this Kensie almond green bomber jacket with black trim. It’s shiny–not exactly metallic, but it’s perfect. The weather has been so ideal for light bomber jacket weather, so you can imagine how much I’ve been wearing it. Then, there were embroidered jeans: another trend I really couldn’t get behind. I don’t know what it was about them that I didn’t like. I guess I kind of felt like they were tacky and outdated (not in a good way). Again, I was wrong. It just took the right embroidered jeans to change my mind. These Weekender jeans from J.Jill have blue and green stem flowers, making it understated and classy. I feel like when there’s a really bold color flower it’s difficult to style, but these go with everything. They”re super versatile and a really fun way to change up your wardrobe in the fall months. I guess I need to take my own advice and not judge a trend by one or two looks… you have to try it out for yourself.

What trends were you wrong about?

SUMMER COMFORT: THE MAXI SKIRT

Details: Printed Easy Knit Maxi Skirt c/o J.Jill, here |

It’s maxi skirt season! I’ve been on vacation this week and I’ve never felt more relaxed. I went on a bit of a staycation and ventured to my family’s beach house on the Long Island Sound in Connecticut. My days have been spent basking in the sun from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. reading and relaxing. I feel so refreshed and the first time I put on my makeup was yesterday and it felt so foreign to me. I can’t say that my style has been on point this week because it’s been driven by comfort and I have NO problems with that. However, I’m planning on going out to dinner tonight and the closest thing to acceptable comfort is this colorful printed maxi from J.Jill. It’s super comfortable and looks good with a variety of colors: white, black, navy, purple and even turquoise. It’s flowy and because it’s available in petite it isn’t too long like most maxis are on me. I’m hanging on to these last few days of vacation and am planning on more sun, one more book and my favorite bathing suit. What are your plans for the weekend?

GO WITH THE (FLO)RAL

Details: Soft Rayon-Twill Full-Leg Crops (floral) c/o J.Jill, here |

This weekend was a scorcher…finally! So naturally, I spent both Saturday and Sunday basking on the beach and enjoying the warmth. There was such a nice breeze by the water that it was difficult to gauge how much sun I was getting and I ended up a little crisp. Now that the weather is finally feeling like the way it’s supposed to, I’ve been excited to try out new outfits. I’ve always been a fan of cropped flowy culottes and these tropical ones from J.Jill have become an all time summer favorite. They are super light weight and breezy. In addition to this funky floral pattern, they are also available in some neutral solids as well as in a deep blue pattern. I paired them with a very fitted top, but I’ve also worn a fun looser fitting and fringe top and it looked just as good. I’ll definitely be experimenting with these this summer and may even purchase another pair (they’re that comfortable!).

MORE SUN HATS LESS SUNBURNS

DSC_0720edited 2DSC_0723 LRDSC_0713edited LRjpgDSC_0760editedDSC_0754edited 2DSC_0753 LRDetails: Chambray Sun Hat c/o J.Jill, here | Peek-a-boo shoulder top from Marshalls, similar here |

No matter what I do, when I go to the beach for the first time of the season, my scalp gets burnt. I usually carry a ratty worn baseball cap, or get creative and tie a shirt around my head, but that’s just not cute. I’ve started to take the sun seriously. Skin cancer runs in my family and I haven’t been so kind to my skin over the years. My high school years were spent at the tanning salon (hello, I’m from New Jersey), and I often wore the absolute minimum SPF while crisping my skin. I wisened up (a little) when I went to college, and now I wear nothing less than 30 SPF. I’ve also become very conscious of my scalp because it’s hard to see the damage that’s being done. Now that I have this cute and comfortable chambray sun hat from J.Jill, I don’t have to worry about looking silly while I’m spending the day outside enjoying the sun. As for my all white look, I broke out last year’s Banana Republic white denim wide leg pants and I picked up this cold shoulder top from Marshall’s. It’s actually a body suit, which makes it even more amazing. You don’t have to worry about it become untucked or looking out of place–it’s one of my favorite new purchases!  Now, it’s your turn to pick up a cute sun hat, slather on the SPF and put a classic all white look together, it is spring after all.

K. I’VE HAD ENOUGH.

There are so many changes happening at work and I’ve been getting antsy with this terrible weather we’ve been having; it feels like senioritis. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to kick my puffy winter coat, but that hasn’t stopped me from shopping around for cute lightweight trenches and overcoats. It all started when I was an hour early to my hair appointment that happened to be located in Boston’s biggest shopping destination: Newbury Street. I decided to kill time and walk across the street to H&M, when I came across this cream colored minimalist beauty. I had to try it on, just to see. I had no intention of making a purchase, but if the shoe fits! Am I right? I picked it up, put it down. Picked it up again, and clung to it when I saw other shoppers eyeing it. That’s it! I was sold. And I am not disappointed–it has been one of my favorite spring season purchases thus far. I layered it over a simple blue J.Jill pullover, allowing it to pop and what can I say, blue is my color. This sweater is one of my favorites because it hangs just in the right place, above my waist. It’s linen and cotton, making it airy and easy to wear in the warmer months (whenever they decide to show up). While I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring weather, I’m making due with cute staples like these. Don’t you worry, bank account there will be many more spring purchases to be had!

Going Gingham for Spring

DSC_0198editedDSC_0197edited (1)DSC_0204editedDSC_0237editedDSC_0223DSC_0219DSC_0250Details: Gingham Rayon-Twill Shirtdress c/o J.Jill, here | Black suede Over-the-Knee suede boots, similar here |

Happy First Day of Spring! It’s finally here to stay now, right? I am honestly so sick of the cold weather, but I think we’re in the clear, I just checked out the forecast for this week and we’re looking at mild temps and hitting 60-degrees on Saturday! Can we go to the beach yet? Well, it has been difficult for me to shoot in the cold, but this weekend I managed to get some shots in. I was able to bear my legs a bit twith this black and white gingham rayon-twill shirtdress from J.Jill. It’s super comfortable and I styled it with my trusted OTK boots so that I didn’t have to resort to tights. It’s really lightweight and easy to style; I’m excited for things to heat up so I can wear it to the office and even the BEACH! Sometimes gingham can be overwhelming, but when I slipped this on I didn’t find it to be excessive or reminiscent of a picnic blanket–it just works!

Enjoy the spring weather from here on and out, lovelies!

PINK OVERLOAD

DSC_0004 (2)DSC_0008DSC_0040DSC_0043DSC_0057DSC_0059 2DSC_0068Details: Brushed-Twill Hooded jacket c/o J.Jill, here | Superga Carnation-Print Sneakers c/o J.Jill, here | Tri-Pearl Choker and Love Drop necklace c/0 Beadly Designs, here and here  |

Another Valentine’s Day in the books! We didn’t plan anything and ended up going out to dinner, but it was a really great time. We share a lot of laughs and enjoyed some delicious food. It’s funny that I have all of this pink clothing and I didn’t wear ANYTHING pink on Valentine’s Day. To make up for my lack of pink on the pinkest day of the year, I’m sharing a pinked out ensemble. I layered this Brushed-Twill Hooded jacket over a white tee and slipped on some boyfriend jeans and these super vibrant Superga carnation-print sneakers–how fun! I was really excited to style this outfit because it got me in the mood for spring clothing. After this most recent blizzard, I’d be happy if I never saw my snow boots again.  I can’t wait to wear light-weight jackets like this one and not have to wear socks–spring, where are you? I love this jacket because it’s cuter than your typical windbreaker but more casual than a trench. It will be perfect for cool nights walking to yoga and breezy days strolling Castle Island. Now, I don’t feel so bad for not wearing pink on Valentine’s Day. I’ll be sure to wear enough pink for the both of us!

GOING CAJ’ FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

DSC_0144DSC_0149DSC_0107DSC_0121DSC_0132Details: Textured tie-front pullover, c/o J.Jill, here | UNIQLO jogger pants, similar here |

The day of love is right around the corner, and I’m sharing some cozy casual looks that are perfect for a date night with your one and only or a night out with your Galentines. Considering we just experienced our first blizzard of the season, I decided to go with comfortable looks, that involve pants–haha! This tie-front pullover from J.Jill is perfect because it’s as sophisticated for a date night, but casual enough for a movie night with your girlfriends. I paired it with light joggers and some neutral pumps to make it a bit more dressy. So, instead of rocking that body-con red dress, take it easy this Valentine’s Day and get cozy with this pullover–it’s worth it, I promise!
