Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of attending my cousin’s wedding in Killington, Vermont. It was such a (not to sound cheesy) love-filled weekend. You know when you don’t realize you needed some quality family time until you have the best time with your family and realize it’s exactly what you needed. I left Vermont feeling so loved, and with new hilarious memories to recount with the fam. It reminded me that there are a group of equally quirky, weird, hilarious, loving, beautiful people who love me. It feels so good to have that many people in your corner, and last weekend was a huge reminder of that.

On to the outfit (I promise, it’s related). This ultra-cozy, super flattering and wear-everywhere jumpsuit is EVERYTHING. It’s so comfortable, fits like a glove (available in petite sizing), and makes me feel good about myself. Just like my family. It makes me feel confident and comfortable in my own skin. I haven’t stopped wearing it and it’s so easy to take from day to night. Wear it with a casual pair of platform sandals, or your favorite summer wedges and statement earrings–PERFECTION.

Take away from the blog post: If you’re ever feeling lost, alone or just having a bad day, remember that there are a group of equally weird, hilarious, beautiful people who love you and always will.

I really didn’t anticipate pulling out a coat this early in the game, but if I have to wear one,  I’m happy it’s this quilted one from J. Jill. I do have a short quilted coat that hasn’t been aging well, so when I received this one I was relieved to find that its quality is strong and durable. In fact, this past weekend I could barely take it off. And don’t be fooled by its light weight, I had no problem facing the recent brisk Boston nights with it. Now, I know I’ve mentioned how much I love a good sweater and this tweed cable knit takes the cake. It’s as cozy and warm as a snuggle sesh with my pup and I’m especially partial to its creamy neutral color—easy to pair. Oh! Speaking of pair, these Frye short boots (also sold at J. Jill) are my newest footwear obsession. Their rich brown color gives you the ability to dress them up with a tunic or flowy dress. I think it’s safe to say that I’m officially ready for fall…. and a ton of walks through Boston Common.

I think I speak for most fall lovers when I say, that layering and chunky sweaters are the best part of a fall wardrobe. Considering  today marks the first official day of fall, I felt it was only appropriate to share one of my newest fall favorites. With the winters we’ve been experiencing, you can never have too many sweaters. This J. Jill mixed pattern topper is unlike my current knit selection, with its unique pattern mix and varying textures. It’s a perfect combination of marled yarns, herringbone and plaid patterns. OH! and cozy is an understatement, plus this topper is so warm  and not itchy like other heavy knits. Once it becomes weather appropriate I fully intend on pairing it with my black leather  pants and booties. I always feel that there’s a huge rush to jump into fall, and I prematurely start busting out my flannels but I think this week’s weather has proven that fall is actually beginning. With that being said, Happy Fall! (Let’s hold off on winter for as long as possible).

Also, since moving to Boston I happily reconnected with an old friend from college who started her own photography business Lindsay Connor’s Photography, check it out— she’s amazing and so easy and fun to work with!

It’s hard to believe that this is the last week of August, time seriously flies! The typical August weather didn’t fail to perform, considering these past couple days have been unmanageably steamy. Today, however is clear and crisp which leads me to believe that fall is on the horizon. I’m not trying to rush the fall season into play or anything, but my cutoffs and flip flops are tired and I’m becoming uninspired with my summer selection. I’ve slowly begun my fall wardrobe search and number one on my list are sweaters; you can never have enough. This J. Jill textured-stripes pullover is unlike my typical fall knits, that are bulky and oversized, however it has quickly become one of my favorites. I absolutely love its fit, I’ve realized with time how important it is to find garments that really fit. I appreciate brands like J. Jill, Banana Republic and Ann Taylor that have wide selections of petite clothing. I’ve always been short and my frame is narrow, so the average sweater always seems to look unattractively oversized, draping down well past my torso. This striped beauty is what a sweater is supposed to look like, it hits right above my hip, and is well fitted in the arms and shoulders. I paired it with my light grey wash denim pants to give it an edgy contrast and concluded the look with my d’Orsay flats also c/o J. Jill, which are the most COMFORTABLE flats I’ve ever worn. They come in a variety of colors, giving you the option to mix it up! So when you begin your fall shopping, you don’t have to steer away from the bulky oversized goodness of some sweaters, but keep in mind it’s important to have a selection of pullovers that ACTUALLY fit you well, making your weekend date nights manageable, yet cute in the cold months ahead (omg did I just say that….) Okay forget fall, just go outside and lay in the sun now!!!

This morning was a rough one, with the rainy weather and muggy temps I almost decided today wasn’t worth a cute outfit..I said ALMOST. To be honest with you, I don’t think we should have to work during the summer months. Summer is short enough as it is, why don’t we just work Monday-Wednesday and have off Thurs-Sunday, right? I think that’s manageable enough. The only thing I really care to wear during the summer is my bathing suit, and since that’s not acceptable most places– a cute linen top like my embroidered linen one from J. Jill is the perfect layer. I’m in a midweek rut right now, the weekend is so close yet so far and I’m ready to ditch my work wear for the beach.

Get me to Friday!!!!!

If I could, I would be a professional beach bum. I love the heat, I love the sand and anyone who knows me, knows that I will beach it from 7am-7pm. A day at the beach is therapeutic to me, there are absolutely no judgments passed; you’re make-up free, wearing only your bathing suit– it’s liberating and it’s when I feel most at peace. Like any beach bum in training, I always have more than enough sunscreen (most of the time) and a super cute cover up. My J. Jill pink sun-bleached tank dress has become a serious beach staple. It’s loose, airy and appropriate enough for an afternoon lunch date. Now, if I could just make it through this work day I’d be one more closer to a beach weekend.

Going to work after a long weekend is the ABSOLUTE worst. Fortunately, I have something to day dream about since my weekend consisted of  a beach breeze, hot dogs and wine. I mentioned in my last post that  I’ve been super stressed lately, there are decisions to be made and so much to get into place that it’s hard to enjoy all of the beauty in my life. Sometimes you need to just vent and talk it out and that’s exactly what I was able to do this weekend, as a result I’m feeling refreshed and at ease. So to complement those new found feelings I decided to take it to my wardrobe with this Pure Jill ombre kimono. The ocean hues coupled with its woven linen material makes it exceptionally breezy and relaxed. With something so comfortable it as a no brainer to pair it with boyfriend jeans, they’re right up there on my comfort scale next to yoga pants. And we can’t deny that a cute and easy shoe is hard to come by; it’s true, these Franco Sarto taupe flats have stolen my heart this summer I haven’t been able to wear anything else.

Now, let the day dreaming begin–Happy Tuesday!

After spending the weekend up in Lake Congamond in Southwick, MA it’s seriously brutal coming back to reality. With a weekend full of canoeing, summer ale and french fries, you could say I’ve been bit by the summer bug. Needless to say, my excessive eating of salty foods has me feeling a little fluffy this morning. So while I fully intend on spending this Monday day-dreaming of  relaxing by the water with a good book, I decided the least I could do was dress as if I were. As you know I’ve been on quite the linen kick lately, so I pulled out my white linen kimono from J. Jill and paired it with the obvious choice– my paisley mix print joggers. It’s the perfect light-weight look, and while this is particularly an oversized outfit, it doesn’t appear sloppy or ill-fitting. It’s sleek, comfy and easy—no sign of fluffy-ness here! I hope you’re recovering better than I am from this beautiful weekend.

Wishing you a very short Monday!
