PEACE OUT 2016

dsc_0431editeddsc_0393editeddsc_0496editeddsc_0454editeddsc_0464Details: SheIn Color Block Drop Shoulder Cardigan, here |

It has been a wonderful holiday break and I’ve been able to spend some quality time with both my family and Josh’s. I know that 2016 gets a bad wrap, and I can’t say it was a great year, but it’s not a year to “take back.” It’s important to live your life with no regrets. Whatever happened this year, happened. Live with it and move on. You’re all alive and breathing, right? We made it through a ridiculous presidential election, we experienced great loss around the world and here in our own country, but like always, we came out on top. I can’t say 2016 was my best year, and I won’t promise that 2017 will be “the year” for me (whatever the hell that means), but I’m going to continue to spread love, work hard and give more. Remember to give yourself a break and know that you’re doing the best you can and that is always good enough. And, for the difficult days, we have cardigans. If you’re anticipating some trying times ahead, stock up on your knitwear and get your hands on this cozy color block drop shoulder cardigan from SheIn.  It’s comfortable and can be worn with ANYTHING. So, even if you’re not feeling so hot at least you’ll look like you have your sh*t together.

Cheers to 2017! Cut yourself some slack, and when times are tough, cozy up with a sweater.

TRADE IN THAT LBD FOR A RED ONE

dsc_0896editeddsc_0900editeddsc_0893editeddsc_0895editeddsc_0008editeddsc_0997editedDetails: Lace Insert Openwork Slimming Bodycon dress c/o Rosegal, here |

It really didn’t feel like Christmas this year, and leading up to the day I was super worried that I wouldn’t feel that Christmas spirit. But after seeing my little babes (nieces and nephews) so excited over Santa and all of the presents he brought them, it was hard not to. I’ll be honest, I don’t typically dress up on Christmas day. It’s mostly because I’d rather be comfortable than cute and I like to help in the kitchen or hold a drooling baby without worrying about getting a good outfit dirty. While I don’t typically dress up on Christmas day, that doesn’t mean I don’t love a good dress. I always gravitate to black, but when I saw this red lace bodycon dress, I couldn’t help but grab it. It’s comfortable and I love that it has long sleeves because I do not want my pasty white arms getting any attention. I also really love how vibrant the color red is. It just screams Christmas joy–right? Just because the holidays are coming to a close, doesn’t mean you don’t need a ton of new dresses for 2017 weekends ahead. Speaking of 2017, if you’re still on the hunt for a NYE dress, scoop this one up from Rosegal. Fun tip: it’s not normal bodycon tight, so you can drink as much champagne and chomp on endless apps without feeling like your food baby is showing.

Well, that’s all I got, but I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with Christmas spirit!

MY HOLIDAY DRESS COLLECTION CONTINUES

dsc_0560editeddsc_0573editeddsc_0589editeddsc_0576editeddsc_0619editeddsc_0612editedDetails: Wearever Lace-Tier Dress c/o J.Jill, here | Ivanka Trump over-the-knew suede boots, here |

Everyone knows about my dress collection, and this conservative black lace-tier dress is the perfect addition to my dress-drobe. It’s the perfect option for an office party or an afternoon holiday gathering. I love a dress with a sleeve. Seriously. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s being cold and with this J.Jill dress, I can keep warm while looking stylish. In lieu of tights, I bared my thighs with these ultra comfy Ivanka Trump over the knee boots. Considering this is an all-black dress, I wanted to give my black tights a rest and break it up with some peek-a-boo legs. I also feel that the boots take this dress to a higher level of sophistication. For an afternoon office party, I’d probably stick to tights, but for a night out, why not show some skin.

VOUCHING FOR VELVET

dsc_0417editeddsc_0434editeddsc_0502editeddsc_0419editeddsc_0523editedDetails: Taupe velvet midi dress c/o SheIn, here | Lulu’s cream caged pumps similar, here |

The holidays are officially here and that means copious parties, delicious goodies, and gifts galore. I don’t know about you, but I always seem to collect dresses around the holiday season, even if I don’t necessarily have that many parties to go to– I like to have options, what can I say? This season is no different. I’ve started my dress collecting early and this taupe velvet midi dress was first on my list. I was a little reluctant to get on board with the velvet trend. I know it’s huge right now, but when I think velvet, I think of ALL of my childhood Christmas dresses that I wore with white tights and black patent leathers. You know the dresses I’m talking about, full velvet with either a bow or an embroidered poinsettia? They were absolutely appropriate for the church pageants and family gatherings when I was 10, but as a 20-something I couldn’t wrap my head around a full velvet dress. I decided to take a chance and jump on the bandwagon, and I couldn’t be happier. Not only is this dress silky and soft, but it’s classy and sophisticated. The high neckline makes it modest, while its bodycon fit is sexy and stylish. Not only will this be a dress for a holiday gathering, but I can even wear it for a date night. Stay tuned for more of my holiday dress picks.

NAVY KNITS + CORDS

DSC_0458DSC_0455DSC_0450DSC_0506DSC_0502Details: T.J. Maxx grey multi color wool scarf, similar here | Navy shaker-stitch topper c/o J.Jill, here | Gap high-waisted corduroys, here |

I don’t really know what’s going on with this weather lately, but my wardrobe is just as confused as I am. One minute I’m coatless and the next I’m bundled up to my eyeballs. Fortunately, it looks like we’re going to have a fairly mild Christmas this year. I’m okay with that because I know these temps won’t last long. Despite the wardrobe confusion, one knit that has remained a constant  is this navy shaker-stitch topper from J.Jill. I especially love its double shawl collar and classic shaker stitching. It’s warm enough to wear without a coat (for now) and easy enough to dress up for special holiday occasions.

PEEK-A-BOO KNEES + MIXED MEDIA

DSC_0071DSC_0070DSC_0082 editedDSC_0064

DSC_0070 editedDetails: Banana Republic black and white mixed-media ponte dress, here | Lulu’s  black knee high boots, similar here |

This warmer weather we’ve been experiencing has allowed me to get some good use out of my favorite dresses. If I don’t have to, I prefer not to wear tights; they can be so uncomfortable and restricting, especially when sitting at a desk all day. This dress happens to look best with thigh high boots and some peek-a-boo knees. And as you know, I’m  all about the outlets and stumbled upon this one piece mixed-media black and white dress from Banana while on a mini shopping spree. It’s comfortable and I can’t tell you how many people have asked and been in shock that it’s just ONE piece. Even in the winter, it’s common to wear a sleeveless dress and pair it with a cardigan; you rarely find comfortable long-sleeve work dresses. And as someone who is always cold, CUTE long-sleeve dresses are ideal so this was definitely a wardrobe WIN. I hope you’re all taking advantage of these warmer days because the cold will eventually settle in. Bare your legs while you still can!

BOLD BEANIES

DSC_0238DSC_0242DSC_0246DSC_0237DSC_0271Details: Gap oversized ivory turtleneck,  similar style here | Beige faux-fur pom beanie from Beyond Trends Somerville (also sold at Ladyfingers), here | UGG Croft Toscana high top sneakers c/o J.Jill, here |

I’ve never been known to wear hats, but it seems as though every store I pop into lately has a variety of beanies to choose from. I do have several plain and simple beanies lying around, but I’ve never been bold enough to take on a pom beanie. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of the winter hats I used to wear as a toddler. I remember my first pom beanie like it was yesterday; it was white with multi color hearts and had my name printed across the front in pink. When did these pom hats become cute again? Well, I guess you could say I’m feeling “bold” this season because I bit the bullet and bought this beige faux-fur pom beanie from Beyond Trends. It can be worn with a wide variety of colors and you can wear it to lay further on the back of your head or straight up, allowing the pom to shine! Get on and get yourself a pom beanie this season; I promise you’ll feel like a little kid again.
