THE AMERICAN MEME & TEDDY BEAR COATS

Details: Tiger Mist Teddy Jacket, currently sold out  similar jacket from Gap, here |

I’m currently watching American Meme on Netflix, and if you haven’t already, you need to check it out. It’s super interesting and entertaining. It’s actually slightly alarming that the memes, social media and influencers have become such a huge part of the American culture, and to be able to watch the evolution of social media and the rise of these influential, insta-famous influencers is INSANE. I remember when I was interning at an online subscription beauty box doing social media my first year out of college, and I was talking to my boyfriend and his family discussing whether or not social media would last and if the rise of influencers is actually something to seriously consider as a career/part of marketing. Immediately, my bf and his family laughed and said it would likely fizzle out. I hesitantly agreed…that was six years ago and social media has only evolved and grown. As a marketing professional, it’s so interesting to watch, learn and navigate through this brand new age of marketing.

Okay. Now that I’m done plugging American Meme, let’s talk about this comfy cozy teddy coat that I purchased from Nordstrom at the beginning of the winter season. I’m not sure I need to really sell this must-have since it’s not only super cozy and necessary for the winter season, but it’s stylish and not easy to wear since it’s not as bulky. It’s been so cold in Boston lately that I would even wear this under my puffer coat since I’m always so cold in the office…and in general. It’s also roomy enough for you to wear a relatively thick layer underneath. If you live in a mild climate this could potentially serve as your mid-winter coat. I also feel like I’m channeling my inner JLO with this outfit, straddling the crosswalk in the streets of South Boston, aka “my block.” I’m definitely less JLO and more nameless Hallmark movie character trying to master her best urban wear/big city outfit. Introduce me to a hometown flannel wearing hero and put a bow on it…Happy Holidays!

NEW YEAR, NEW FAVORITE COLOR

Details: Stripe Asymmetrical Hem skirt c/o Banana Republic, here |

Word on the street is that Pantone’s color of the year for 2018 is ‘Ultra Violet.’ Most people know that I’m not crazy about colors, but the vibrancy and sheen of this asymmetrical hem skirt make it hard not to love. It’s high-waisted and fitted with a flare at the bottom, making it both sleek and girly. With such a vibrant color, it was hard for to determine what the best top would be. Typically, I would go for something neutral like ivory or taupe, but I decided to go a bit bolder to compete with such a strong color and paired it with a deep navy turtleneck. I always knew navy and violet were a good duo, but I never knew they looked THIS good together. I seriously love everything about this combo and I may just ditch my go-to black dress for Christmas dinner, and don this outfit instead. I’ll admit, it was difficult for me to figure out the perfect shoes. I still don’t LOVE the ones I styled this with, but they were good enough. I did try a black bootie, which seemed to be such a stark contrast with my fair skin, however, someone who is taller than me might be able to pull over an ankle bootie with this skirt. I’m also debating on wearing this skirt for a New Year’s Day party because it only seems appropriate to kick off the new year with THE color of the year. I mean, duh!

So, if you’re willing to swap out your dresses this holiday season for a skirt, I highly suggest you give this beauty a try. If you should be so bold, please share with me how you would style it; I’d love to see your looks!!

Happy holiday styling!

STAY SASSY

Details: Spotless Mind Black Mesh Bodysuit c/o TOBI,here | Black pointed toe mules (old), similar here | UNIQLO  Drape Pants, similar here |

Changing things up this holiday season with a game-changing look. While it’s a bit out of character for me, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable a mesh bodysuit is. From dresses to jumpsuits, I’ve tried it all, but I’ve never been able to wrap my head around a mesh bodysuit. It’s like a shirt, but definitely not a shirt because it’s transparent.  Am I the only one?  Regardless! I always say I’ll try every clothing trend once, so I gave this polka dot mesh bodysuit a try. I especially love it because of its bell sleeves and mock neck. Who would’ve thought that a mesh bodysuit could have a mock neck and bell sleeves?! Crazier things have happened, I guess. While I’m much more myself in a jumpsuit, I think this look could be runnerup. I feel like a Lifetime movie vixen. You know who I’m talking about? The woman who wears the most revealing outfits and looks absolutely stunning, but her intentions are to steal the man that the wholesome, all-American girl is absolutely in love with. Yea, that’s what I feel like while wearing this ultra-sexy outfit. And I won’t lie, I LOVE it. When I first styled this outfit, I slipped on high-waisted jeans and booties, but to bring this look to the next level, I went with tapered dress pants and snake stamped mules. I feel much more comfortable in a looser fitted pant because I’m practically naked wearing a mesh bodysuit. Plus, I think it adds some necessary class and balances the stunning sexiness of the top.

While I’ll never really relate to the Lifetime movie vixen, I’m sure going to have fun looking the part. And now…I’m due for a girls night out. See ya!
