APRIL SNOW SHOWERS BRING…?

DSC_0893editedDSC_0922editedDSC_0929editedDSC_0966editedDSC_0964editedDetails: Sleeveless open cardigan (old), similar here | Gap high-waisted jeans, similar here |

I may have gotten a bit too cocky about the spring weather being here to stay. It doesn’t look like I’ll be wearing my sunglasses or sleeveless tops for a little while. The forecast calls for rain AND snow, and I’m beginning to regret leaving my chunky knits in Jersey. Thankfully, I didn’t completely lose my mind and kept some necessary sweaters to get me through this brief cold stint. I’ve had this sleeveless brown open cardigan for quite some time now and to be honest, I never knew what to wear with it. I bought it on a whim and didn’t think it through. I layered it over a long white dress once and Josh said I looked like Apostle Paul… so that’s where that went. But when I was home this past weekend, I decided it was time to give it another try. I layered it over my standard jeans and t-shirt and I think it’s just the oomph my go-to look needed. Plus, Josh didn’t have a snarky remark–I guess that means it looks normal? I don’t know about you, but I’m SO ready for the weekend. I’m also kinda relieved that I don’t have any travel plans, just looking forward to a relaxing weekend staying put and I think is look allows for just that. Unfortunately, I’ll have to swap out my short tee for a long one… but c’est la vie I guess…

Happy Friday!

CH-CH-CHANGES…FOR MY HAIR

DSC_0658editedDSC_0650editedDSC_0672editedDSC_0715editedDSC_0721editedDetails: SheIn long sleeve hollow lace blouse, here | Bell bottom jeans, similar here |

I spent the past two weekends in my hometown of Chester, New Jersey, and to be quite honest it was exactly what I needed. It felt like two mini vacations; most of the time I prefer the beach to unwind and relax, but since moving away, I’ve come to realize that being around my family and in my “home” provide me with just as much relaxation as sand between my toes. I also took the opportunity to go through my spring/summer clothes and came across these bell bottoms and this lace blouse–score! I guess you could say I was so 70’s inspired with this duo that I decided to change my hair up as well. I was toying with the idea of getting a lob when I got my haircut two weeks ago, but I’m happy I didn’t because long hair can be so fun if you know how to do it. Trust me, I’m no hair pro, in fact, I just recently mastered the curling iron and that’s about as far as it goes. I will say, this high half-up pony is something I’ve always wanted to try. My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it so it was so simple to do once I gave my hair the necessary volume by curling it. Then I simply pulled it half up at the crown of my head and grabbed some hair from the back to make up for the lack of hair I took from the sides. I think the only way to complement such an amazing high neck blouse is with a spicy new hairstyle. And by spicy I mean just an average half-up pony for hair amateurs like myself…
