SHORT-WEAR REVAMP

DSC_0767 editedDSC_0821 editedDSC_0763 editedDSC_0802 editedDSC_0847DSC_0848DSC_0846 editedDetails: grey dove ribbon tie shorts, c/o West Look, here  | Design Lab Lord & Taylor scuba crop top with cut-outs, here | Lulu’s ivory studded pumps, here |

Now that we’re fully emerged into shorts season, I’ve been having fun revamping my short-wear. In  the past I was never able to wear shorts to work, but now that I’m in a more casual environment nearly anything goes. While I’ve always been into denim shorts and still am,  my taste has evolved with age and I’m working to find more work appropriate shorts. {ENTER} these AMAZING dove grey ribbon shorts} c/o West Look. Here is when my ‘short‘ life changed; What I love most is their soft grey shade, it pairs seamlessly with a variety of colors;  from soft ivory to vibrant magenta—anything goes! The ribbon adds an element of femininity, so as to make sure you don’t miss out on the flirtatiousness that a sundress provides. I also decided to go with a more structured and fitted top; it doesn’t distract from  the shorts and flatters the figure. I seriously think I need another pair of these, commence the over-wearing process 😉

White Out

IMG_4417 editedIMG_4393 editedIMG_4421 editedIMG_4395 editedIMG_4437%20editedDetails: ZARA round neck checked top, here  | ZARA white legging/pant, similar here | Jessica Simpson two-tone pumps, similar here

We’ve made it to Friday and MAY! No more frigid days ahead right? I’ve been digging the all white trend this season– remember when it was a complete faux pas to wear one color/monotoned outfits—especially white?! Thankfully all white ensembles are no longer reserved only for your wedding day.  We can now (without judgement) mix and match with white patterned pieces and varying shades of ivories, white, cream–anything goes! So with a slight breeze in the air I decided to hang on to this ZARA favorite of mine– my white and navy checked long sleeve top. It’s definitely going to remain a solid staple for me into the fall months; while it’s light enough to wear through the spring, it has enough weight to keep me comfortable through October. (Sorry for jumping to fall!) for now, start working on your summer glow; you’ll need some serious white staples to highlight that tan—get shopping and celebrate the AMAZING weather to come 🙂

Happy Friday!

Is it Friday yet? On a scale of 1 to 10, this week has been a 6 and I know it’s only Wednesday but things have just been so off for me these past couple days. My coworkers and I have been relying on NY Metro’s horoscopes to get us through each day—-yea, exactly my point, it’s that kind of week. The last thing I really want to think about is putting an outfit together for work. And after my binge at Marshall’s a couple weeks ago, I found the perfect shift dress to get me through a week of mediocrity. Yes–you heard me correctly, this AMAZING Andrew Marc dress is yet ANOTHER #FABFIND from Marshall’s, I mean hello?! It has pockets. But what I love most, (pockets aside) is the mandarin collar, I just have a thing for them. With such a collar, there’s really no need for a statement necklace, it does the work for you—less is always more. I paired it with my chunk Franco Sarto sandals (another #FABFIND) to save my feet for the day. Today may not be an easy one, but at least my outfit is.

Sorry for being a Debbie guys, I hope you have a short and sweet Wednesday loves!

A TAILORED LOVE

IMG_1716 editedIMG_1696 editedIMG_1670 editedIMG_1729%20editedIMG_1723 editedIMG_1780 editedDetails: Navy and white jumpsuit via Marshall’s, brand here |

Okay, I have a story about this jumpsuit, I found it at Marshall’s and I just had to have it, it was the only one left and I was legit sweating while running to grab it. BUT to my unfortunate surprise, it didn’t fit. It was too top heavy, it flared out,  you could see my bra and it just flat out wasn’t working on me, but when I’m convinced I need something…. I NEED it. So while I was in the dressing room trying to fool myself that it fit, I decided that since it was a reasonable $30, why not invest a little more and have it tailored?! I’m ecstatic that I did—it’s definitely going to be accompanying me on MANY summer gatherings. It’s just an easy piece, you don’t need much to wear it; accessories are optional—its chevron pattern is enough noise for one outfit. Dress it up with a cute wedge or throw on your favorite flip flops–EASY PEASY my loves!

Happy Friday!
