BRIGHT ON!

Details: Forever 21 Ribbed Multicolor Sweater, similar here | American Eagle High-Waisted jeans, similar here | Forever 21 Faux Leather Combat Boots, here

Guys! It was unexpectedly 70-degrees yesterday and I couldn’t even believe it. Today is supposed to be just as warm, but my pale skin is not prepared for gorgeous sunshine and blue skies. That being said,  I won’t be donning shorts, skirts or dresses, but instead, I will channel the brighter weather with this multicolor cropped sweater and bold yellow drop earrings. I always seem to channel retro 70’s style, and I think it’s because I love wearing bright colors and letting my hair flow in waves. I ditched bell bottoms for tapered high-waisted skinny jeans and slid on some combat boots, making this an elevated 2018 70’s inspired look, right?! Once my skin is tanner, I can wear this sweater layered under overalls and over a cute denim dress…the options are endless! I’m also not getting too excited about these warmer temps in February because we’re supposed to get some snow on Thursday. Thanks for the reality check, Mother Nature!

Hope your day is filled with sunshine, whether it’s from within or outside. Shine on my beautiful babes!

ACTUAL OOTD…FOR REAL

Details: Top Shop red Wrap Waist top via Nordstrom, here | Dark wash Gap jeans, similar here | Charming Charlie yellow floral earrings, similar here | Tommy Hilfiger via DSW taupe suede ‘Venture’ pumps, here |

Guys, Happy Valentine’s Day! Hoping you took my advice from Monday’s post and have decided to spread some love this month, week or day :). While I’m TOTALLY into wearing heart/V-Day inspired clothing, I decided to tap my sophisticated side and wear this classic red wrap waist top and my favorite jegging jeans (yes jegging jeans from GAP…sue me!) to my Valentine’s Day date tonight. I love this top. You can’t see, but it ties in the back, making the front as fitted as you’d like with some flattering ruching. I love the orange undertones in this red color and how nicely it falls above my jeans. Because I was feeling even MORE color, I popped on these yellow floral earrings and added some beach waves to my locks. Instantly, I felt like I was owning the Valentine’s Day game…sexy red dresses are overrated. Because this look is all about color, I slid on my new taupe suede block heel pumps and voila! Cute comfort at its finest.

Now, if you don’t have a date or you aren’t going out with your Galentines, make sure you spread some love to the ones you care about and then get into something cozy, put on your best face mask and tune in to your favorite shows. You deserve some self-love and relaxation, today and every day!

SPREAD LOVE & WEAR HEARTS

Details: French Connection striped heart sweater, here | Black Banana Republic skirt (old), similar here | Anne Klein polka dot tights, similar here | Black Sperry boots, similar here |

Oh, February, the month of love! It’s so funny.  I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day, even sans boyfriend. When I was younger, my mom always made Valentine’s Day a thing (she still does to this day). She’d make a special red or pink treat, buy me cute Valentine’s Day-themed gifts and it always felt like such a happy day to me. My mom’s Valentine’s Day gifts continued on through college and as a result, I became a Valentine’s Day ambassador myself. I don’t think Valentine’s Day needs to solely be about the love for your partner, but more about spreading love to the ones you care about. The ones who pick you up when you’re down, who make you laugh when you’re mad, the friends who listen and give advice. Take this Valentine’s Day to let all of the ones you love that you care about them and appreciate them. Yes, you should do that every day, but if you don’t already do that, let this be a reminder.

In addition to giving and getting gifts of love on Valentine’s Day, I always love to wear heart-themed clothing. I came across this French Connection sweater in Steinmart, and it had this must-have 90’s appeal. I can see Kelly Kapowski wearing this on Saved by the Bell or DJ Tanner, in her high school years. I just love it! It’s got a classic appeal to it and I decided to make it appropriate for the workplace with a fitted black skirt. The polka dot tights offer some fun and I went with booties instead of pumps to keep it casual. Now, would this be something I would wear on Valentine’s Day date night? Probably not…maybe just the sweater with some jeans; the skirt is just too work-esque for V-Day.

So, if you’ve been one of those Valentine’s Day scrooges, maybe give one of your friends a call or write a note to your parents, letting them know you appreciate them. It will go a long way.

Happy Monday loves! Spreading love and happiness your way. Own the work week and kick some butt!!

NEW YEAR, NEW FAVORITE COLOR

Details: Stripe Asymmetrical Hem skirt c/o Banana Republic, here |

Word on the street is that Pantone’s color of the year for 2018 is ‘Ultra Violet.’ Most people know that I’m not crazy about colors, but the vibrancy and sheen of this asymmetrical hem skirt make it hard not to love. It’s high-waisted and fitted with a flare at the bottom, making it both sleek and girly. With such a vibrant color, it was hard for to determine what the best top would be. Typically, I would go for something neutral like ivory or taupe, but I decided to go a bit bolder to compete with such a strong color and paired it with a deep navy turtleneck. I always knew navy and violet were a good duo, but I never knew they looked THIS good together. I seriously love everything about this combo and I may just ditch my go-to black dress for Christmas dinner, and don this outfit instead. I’ll admit, it was difficult for me to figure out the perfect shoes. I still don’t LOVE the ones I styled this with, but they were good enough. I did try a black bootie, which seemed to be such a stark contrast with my fair skin, however, someone who is taller than me might be able to pull over an ankle bootie with this skirt. I’m also debating on wearing this skirt for a New Year’s Day party because it only seems appropriate to kick off the new year with THE color of the year. I mean, duh!

So, if you’re willing to swap out your dresses this holiday season for a skirt, I highly suggest you give this beauty a try. If you should be so bold, please share with me how you would style it; I’d love to see your looks!!

Happy holiday styling!

MY LATEST FAVORITES FROM PRIMARK

Details: Floral bell sleeve dresses, True Blue Distressed denim, black off-the-shoulder bell sleeve top, Sleeveless gray keyhole floral top, all c/o Primark The South Shore Plaza in Braintree |

As I get older, I’ve begun to understand the importance of investing in timeless well-made clothing. It’s important and makes a huge difference in your wardrobe. But we all know that some trends stick around longer than others, and as someone who likes to give all trends a shot, it’s not practical or easy on my wallet. So instead of investing in fleeting trends, I rely on my favorite fast fashion retailers. You know the ones I’m talking about: H&M, Forever 21, ZARA and now I have the luxury of adding Primark to my list. That’s right, Primark, known as one of the hottest fast fashion retailers in the U.K. has opened two stores in the Boston area.Their newest location, which happens to be my favorite one, is at The South Shore Plaza in Braintree. I love a good mall and the selection they have there is amazing! If I wasn’t set on purchasing some spring looks, I totally would’ve blown my bank account on their homeware section–the deals are incredible! Some of my favorite purchases included (and this wasn’t even everything I got!):

  • Two bell-sleeve floral dresses (pink and black). They fit very well and are perfect for summer bridal showers or graduation/family parties.
  • These stretchy jeans with frayed cuffs are so comfortable and a fun mix to my denim collection
  • Off-the-shoulder accordion bell-sleeve top…I mean, do I really need to explain why this was necessary
  • This key hole floral sheer floral top in gray. It’s so airy and loose, plus Primark also sells a bunch of awesome undergarments so I purchased two invisible camis, some invisible underwear and invisible mesh spandex shorts to go under my dresses since they’re a little sheer too. I can’t love them enough they range from $3 to $7 and the quality is there. I’m about to head back and get some more!
  • What’s not pictured is a macrame trim bodysuit and black tiered shirt–stay tuned!

So, for two dresses, a pair of jeans, a body suit, two tops, a skirt and three different types of undergarments I spent $125. Can you say INCREDIBLE! I don’t even think I have to say this, but if you’re traveling to the Boston area anytime soon or leave close by, head over to Primark. I promise you’ll find something that you absolutely need and you won’t break the bank!

FEELINGS FOR FALL

DSC_0361editedDSC_0366editedDSC_0365editedDSC_0408editedDSC_0411editedDSC_0414edited

Details: Pure Jill Indigo Quilted Jacket, c/o J.Jill  here

This weekend we got a little taste of fall weather, but it looks like the heat is sticking around for the next few days. I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed. I was starting to get feelings for fall. I started to think about my fall wardrobe and plan to focus only on the essentials. And This J.Jill quilted jacket is one of them. I layered it over this all white look to show off the jacket’s deep navy blue color. As the sun was setting this weekend and it became a bit breezy, I wanted to wear something that looked cute and summery, but still kept me warm. This was the perfect option because it’s open front allowed me to show off my labor day weekend outfit, while still looking cute. Not only is this piece appropriate for that in-between summer weather, but it will transition seamlessly into the brisk fall months.  I think I’m ready for fall. I’ve already had TWO pumpkin spice lattes so far. Commence, fall.

FEELING CHUNKY

DSC_0545DSC_0523DSC_0538DSC_0574DSC_0572DSC_0564DSC_0581Details: Chunky knit sweater, similar here | Garage Clothing boyfriend jeans, similar here | Superga slip-on sneakers c/o J.Jill, here |

When I made the decision to move to Boston I was prepared to constantly be donning  chunky knits (even more so than I already was). However, the recent mild December weather has had me ditching my sweaters for light blouses and quilted coats. I know  the cold weather will eventually catch up to us, so I wanted to give my favorite over-sized knit some love before it’s too cold to wear it solo. I don’t know if you’ve realized, but I’m borderline obsessed with high-neck sweaters and this one is the ULTIMATE high neck sweater. It’s by far the coziest knit I’ve ever owned and it has a zipper front so it can serve as an overcoat for warmer winter days. On the weekend, you’ll typically find me in my boyfriend jeans and if I could wear them every day I would. They are the perfect counterpart to oversized knits and will forever be an all-seasons staple. Give yourself the gift of chunky sweaters this season, see some of my favorites here, here and here!

Holiday Dresses PART III

DSC_0014DSC_0983DSC_1015DSC_0013DSC_0053Details: Ku De Ta black lace nude lined dress, similar here | BCBGMAXAZRIA black t-strap heels, similar here |

I seem to be collecting a bunch of holiday dresses lately, and I’m worried I’m going to run out of parties to wear them to. I recently took a trip around my new neighborhood of South Boston and stumbled upon one of the cutest boutiques,  Ku De Ta.  It’s super trendy and they carry a bunch of brand names, including Free People, True Religion, Joe’s Jeans, Alex and Ani and more. This particular dress is by Blu Pepper Clothingand what I love most is its high lace neckline. It adds a strong element of elegance, while its nude lining gives it a touch of sex appeal. Since it’s such a detailed piece, the t-strap heels are all that you need to complete this look. I would probably recommend a pair of sheer tights, however if the weather permits feel free to bare leg it–anything goes with this one! Share with me some of your favorite holiday dresses and local shops you frequent during the holidays.
