MY HEAT WAVE HERO, THE SHIRT DRESS

IMG_6123 editedIMG_6143 editedIMG_6167 editedIMG_6144 editedIMG_6172 editedDetails: Sleeveless plaid shirt dress via Marshall’s similar here and here | Nine West ‘Narcissus’ wedge sandal via Marshall’s, here |

Although the second half of this week cooled down, the week ahead looks pretty steamy. It’s so difficult to feel comfortable in the sticky heat, this plaid shirt dress is not only a breezy option for the hot months, but it will transition smoothly into fall with its darker hues. It feels exactly the way it looks; it looks like an over sized cozy sleeveless shirt, and it fits just the same—snaps for me, another Marshall’s find. Oh and speaking of Marshall’s, that’s where my shoes are from! They’re Nine West, small wedges and they work for me for the work days since they’re small enough so that I’m not on the verge of breaking my ankle racing to work, and they give me a little lift, giving my much adored flats a break.

Happy Friday!

LBR VS LBD

I leave TOMORROW for Cancun and I just about have everything necessary packed. The weather we’re having today is uninspiring to say the least, but to lift our spirits I decided to share one of my warm day favs. This high neck black romper I scored at Marshall’s is a simple sophisticated choice and I’m currently debating whether or not I should bring it on vacation. On second thought, it may be too sassy for lax beachy vibes don’t you think?  I guess it deserves to remain in a city — made casual with my espadrille wedges. I’ve always been a dress girl, especially in the summer, but rompers have become my first choice this season. They’re comfortable and easy,  similar to dresses, some are flowy while others are body-con—the options are endless. I think this may even take the place of my LBD!

OH! and before I go scroll down to enter an amazing giveaway! It’s sure to make your Monday bearable 😉

MID-WEEK FUNK

Is it Friday yet? On a scale of 1 to 10, this week has been a 6 and I know it’s only Wednesday but things have just been so off for me these past couple days. My coworkers and I have been relying on NY Metro’s horoscopes to get us through each day—-yea, exactly my point, it’s that kind of week. The last thing I really want to think about is putting an outfit together for work. And after my binge at Marshall’s a couple weeks ago, I found the perfect shift dress to get me through a week of mediocrity. Yes–you heard me correctly, this AMAZING Andrew Marc dress is yet ANOTHER #FABFIND from Marshall’s, I mean hello?! It has pockets. But what I love most, (pockets aside) is the mandarin collar, I just have a thing for them. With such a collar, there’s really no need for a statement necklace, it does the work for you—less is always more. I paired it with my chunk Franco Sarto sandals (another #FABFIND) to save my feet for the day. Today may not be an easy one, but at least my outfit is.

Sorry for being a Debbie guys, I hope you have a short and sweet Wednesday loves!

A TAILORED LOVE

IMG_1716 editedIMG_1696 editedIMG_1670 editedIMG_1729%20editedIMG_1723 editedIMG_1780 editedDetails: Navy and white jumpsuit via Marshall’s, brand here |

Okay, I have a story about this jumpsuit, I found it at Marshall’s and I just had to have it, it was the only one left and I was legit sweating while running to grab it. BUT to my unfortunate surprise, it didn’t fit. It was too top heavy, it flared out,  you could see my bra and it just flat out wasn’t working on me, but when I’m convinced I need something…. I NEED it. So while I was in the dressing room trying to fool myself that it fit, I decided that since it was a reasonable $30, why not invest a little more and have it tailored?! I’m ecstatic that I did—it’s definitely going to be accompanying me on MANY summer gatherings. It’s just an easy piece, you don’t need much to wear it; accessories are optional—its chevron pattern is enough noise for one outfit. Dress it up with a cute wedge or throw on your favorite flip flops–EASY PEASY my loves!

Happy Friday!

SECRETS + SCORES

IMG_2012 edited 2IMG_2060 edited 2IMG_2133 edited 2IMG_2130 edited 2IMG_2191 edited 2Details: Blush/beige Mercer and Madison trousers via Marshall’s, similar here | Black and white detailed/embroidered crop top, from Shop Culture, similar here | BCBGMAXAZRIA pumps via Marshall’s |

I’m always on the hunt for the next best boutique to land some affordable favorites, and since working in Manhattan I didn’t have to travel far to find one. My new go-to spot for game-changing pieces is Shop Culture, they have several locations spread throughout the city, but I frequent the one on 36th and 7th in the heart of the garment district no less. With my crop top game strong this spring, I decided this black and white mixed print top wouldn’t hurt my ever-expanding collection. A piece like this is necessary, it’s an added piece of art to a spice up a simple (blush) trouser or sleek pencil skirt. And speaking of blush, these Mercer and Madison trousers (via Marshall’s) are hands down the most comfortable work pant I own. They have an elastic waist (shown in the back) with a sleek pleated front, I like to call them my mullet pants. Another trophy from my many Marshall’s victories–thank you very much. I have to admit, Marshall’s has become a danger-zone for me;  I can’t seem to walk out with out spending some serious money. It’s not healthy, but I have to say while spring cleaning I found a handful of pieces that I plan to revamp and bring back to life. While spring is for new beginnings it doesn’t mean you have to break your bank for a whole new wardrobe, you’d be surprised with what you can find hanging in your closet.
