Things have been so strange for me lately. I’m not quite sure what it is, but I haven’t been as inspired and up until this weekend the weather has been pretty miserable. Fortunately, the 70-degree weather on Saturday shook me out of this little funk–kind of. To be honest, I’m having a difficult time ignoring toxic people and I think that may be the root of my weird mood, but after a weekend spent with my favorites, I’ve realized that there are way too many good things going on in my life right now, for one person’s negativity to affect me so greatly. And like most, my outfit reflects my mood, so after some a needed pick-me-up session with Josh, I was feeling liberated, carefree and downright happy. Which is why this pleated peasant top was all I wanted to wear for the entire weekend. Initially, I was concerned about the sizing and when I received it in the mail, it was as crinkled as tissue paper (not cute), but after throwing it in the wash and leaving it to air dry, its pleats fell right into place–no ironing necessary. Funny enough, it’s exactly what I need to do. I need to sit back and let things fall as they may. One of my favorite quotes on my vision board (duh, I have a vision board), is “How to be successful: focus on your own shit.” It couldn’t be more perfect. It always seems to be the case that the more negative a person is the more they talk about other people and neglect their own well-being–ultimately only hurting themselves. It’s truly not fair to allow those people to get in the way of your happiness and ultimately your success. So, just like this peasant (once crinkled) top–clean yourself up take care of you and let it be. Everything will fall into place and you’ll be the perfectly pleated top you were always meant to be.
