WIDE LEG CROPS AND A FAVORITE KNIT

Details: Ann Taylor wide leg crop pants with lace detail (older), equally cute style here | Melrose and Market via Nordstromrack cowl neck knit sweater, here | Franco Sarto via Marshall’s black tassel slides, similar here |

Given that the snow has yet to stop, I’m still wearing my chunky knits but baring some skin to let Mother Nature know that I’m ready for warmer temps. I have become somewhat addicted to wide leg crop pants. Not only are they super comfortable, but they look so stylish on and have the ability to bring a casual outfit up a notch. Instead of my standard pumps, I went with slides (staying on the comfort theme) and I felt super cozy but also extremely stylish. I’m hoping I never have to pull on this grey cowl neck sweater (even though it’s amazingly comfy) until next winter. I will, however, be wearing these wide leg crops well into the spring…if that season ever decides to make an appearance.

CROPPED FLEECE: THE PERFECT BALANCE

Details: Funnel Vision Nude Cropped Sweatshirt c/o Tobi, here|   UNIQLO drape pants, similar here | Jessica Simpson two-tone pumps, similar here |

Feeling comfortable during the holidays is key. I mean, you’re overeating, there’s a lot of sitting, talking and traveling. Staying cozy and comfortable is almost necessary. While I love unearthing my “sexy” side, I feel more myself in cozy blanket-like knits and my favorite UNIQLO jogger pants. Now, to balance cute and comfortable, I found this perfect fleece cropped sweater and it even has bell sleeves. I’m super short and sometimes my chunky sweaters look a bit too long and chunky and a lot less cute. Not to mention, this nude mauve color is soft enough for my fair winter complexion (bonus points for not looking like a zombie!). The fleece material makes it ultra cozy, making it an absolute must-have for family gatherings filled with food. If it were up to me completely, I would wear my backless loafers (which is absolutely acceptable), but to add some sass, I went with a neutral pump. It definitely brings the outfit to the next level, but I’m still packing my flats in my purse.

While I’m in search of a balance between comfort and cute, I know I’ll hit some pitfalls but I will try my hardest stay balanced and stylish this season. What are your favorite holiday looks that you just can’t wait to wear?!

P.S. It’s on sale right now (50% OFF)

ANOTHER PULLOVER, ANOTHER FALL SEASON

Details: DAMART button neck jumper (beige), here | American Eagle flannel, similar here |

Fall is the season of pumpkin beer, pretending to understand football and of course… cozy pullovers. I know I sound redundant, but classic cozy knits never go out of style. I mean, I’m way too old to be donning my Alma mater sweats so I have to find the next best thing. From plush fleeces to chunky wool knits, I have them all. But this new knit has become a steady staple in my fall wardrobe and unlike my Polo pullovers, this one is from the land of croissants, art and beauty. That’s right, it’s from one of the most fashion-forward countries, France. The brand is Damart, and while it’s widely known in France for its thermals, it also offers a wide variety of clothing for the fashion-conscious woman. Not to mention, it’s super affordable! Whether you’re shopping for your mom or yourself, you’re bound to find something to help complete your fall/winter wardrobe.

In terms of this outfit, I think it’s pretty safe to say that I’m a fan of neutrals. And while I love wearing shades of ivory and cream, my new winter skin shade of Casper 0001 is not cooperating. In an effort to add some color and warmth I layered this cozy knit over a warm sunset-inspired plaid flannel. It’s definitely an outfit to wear for the Sunday football games you tune out while gorging on nachos, and can even serve as the perfect post-Thanksgiving dinner look.

Happy shopping!

BEST OF BLAZER 2017

Details: Target plaid boyfriend blazer, here | H&M ivory skirt, similar here

I love a good blazer and I’m also partial to oversized garments, so you can imagine how excited I was when I received this grey blazer for my birthday. Whether it’s a pair of boyfriend jeans or a chunky knit, and I can live in it, it has to be mine! When I first styled this blazer I paired it with high waisted black denim pants and a black shirt…super classic and the comfortable option. But when I decided to style it again, I really wanted to be a little less predictable. I slipped on this H&M ivory skirt, the same black top and slid on my OTK black suede boots–can you say perfection? I love the longer length of this blazer because it allows you to pair it with a dress, skirt AND your favorite denim pants. Neutral colors are my thing so the fact that this blazer is black, white and grey makes it easy to pair with a variety of colors. You can go bold with a vibrant red or soft with ivory or black–the options are limitless. Not only does this blazer look great, but it’s super comfortable and almost feels like a cozy cardigan instead of a blazer.

That being said, I think it’s safe to say this will be a timeless staple for many fall/winter seasons to come.

STICK TO THE CLASSICS

Details: (Older) Houndstooth Coat, similar here | American Eagle Plush Sweater, here

I’ve always been a fan of the classics: tweed, herringbone, and houndstooth. Specifically houndstooth. There’s just something about it that brings an outfit to the next level and even though this lightweight houndstooth coat is from last year, it will never go out of style and it looks amazing with this plush mustard color sweater. As you can probably tell, it has the ability to bring the most casual of looks to the next level, but can also be worn just as easily with a classic LBD. I know I’ve been featuring some older pieces, but just like Monday’s cardigan, I found a few styles that are similar and just as perfect. This one from Brooks Brothers is super affordable and has a pop of red on its color–hello fabulous! Other perfect options include this one, this one and DUH this one! Regardless of if you consider your style preppy, minimalist or edgy, you can and will never go wrong with a classic staple like a houndstooth coat. Trust me!!

READY, SET, COAT SEASON!

Details: J.Jill grey ‘Chelsea’ coat, here | French Connection light oatmeal high-neck sweater via Marshall’s, here  |

The time has come for us to fully load our closets with warm knits, wool socks and of course, coats. I have a bit of a problem with all clothes, but coats are my biggest weakness. I can never seem to have enough and one of my latest finds is this dark grey button-front coat ‘Chelsea Coat’ from J.Jill. I really like that it’s an easy coat to layer and work with. What I mean by that is, it’s a coat that has a lot of flexibility, it’s much less stiff, which makes it perfect for crisp fall days like today. I layered it over a super comfy and ultr-soft sweater, which is pretty thick and I still felt free and could move my arms easily. I guess if I could describe this coat in one word it would be: comfort. I feel 100% comfortable and even though it feels lightweight, it keeps you warm. Not to mention, I love a good collar and this one screams sophistication, am I right?!

This will not be the only new coat in my closet this season, but it will absolutely be one of my favorites.

Tell me: what will be your go-to coat this fall!?

GREY, PLAID AND CHECK: I’M SOLD

dsc_0148editeddsc_0145editeddsc_0141editeddsc_0186editedDetails: Contrast Ribbed Trim Check Plaid Sweater c/o SheIn, here |

I know what you’re thinking, another sweater. I can’t help myself! It’s the season for sweaters and I really can’t seem to have enough. I always go for the cardigans, but I rarely find pullover sweater that I really love or have to have. When I saw this one, I knew I had to have it hanging in my closet. I love how it’s short enough to fit just above my pants. Part of the problem I have with pullovers is that they’re often too long and since I’m so short, they stunt my growth. I still feel hazy from my long holiday vacation, and this shoot is rubbing salt in the wound since it was taken while we were visiting Josh’s aunt and uncle in VA. It’s so nice to spend the holidays relaxing and with family and this was one of the outfits I practically lived in. Not only can I wear it with jeans, but it would look just as perfect with a black or gray skirt. I promise I’ll start sharing more clothing, other than cozy sweaters. However, living in Boston, it’s all I can really wear right now. Stay tuned!

EASY WEEKENDS

dsc_0923editeddsc_0883editeddsc_0924editeddsc_0931editedDetails: Abercrombie ivory quilted fleece (SOLD OUT), similar styles here, here and here.

What a lazy weekend! Well, I shouldn’t say lazy, considering I got most of my Christmas shopping done, tried out a new recipe and reorganized my apartment. However, my Saturday was spent online shopping for gifts, binge watching Fuller House and going to the movie to see Office Party. I have to say, it was pretty relaxing and I feel rejuvenated and relaxed now. On these relaxing weekends, I tend to wear the same thing. It’s mostly because I don’t do much, so how can what I wear get dirty. I’ve honestly been living in this cozy ivory quilted fleece from Abercrombie. I have it in TWO different colors: grey and ivory. It’s warm and looks more sophisticated than your average sweatshirt. Now that I’m well rested, I’m prepared for a holiday filled with fun family time and good food.

WINTER SCHMINTER

dsc_0356editeddsc_0323editeddsc_0364editeddsc_0396editeddsc_0391editeddsc_0402Details: Highland Park long down puffer vest c/o J.Jill, here | Frye Cara boots in Elephant c/o J.Jill, here | Faux Fur Pom Beanie, purchased at Ladyfingers boutique,  can also be found here and a similar style here

The winter weather is finally here and I can’t say I’m super thrilled about it, especially considering the heat in my car isn’t working. Anyway, this will be my second winter in Boston and I have to say I’ve been spoiled. Last year, was super mild and this December we’ve seen 60-degree weather! Fortunately, I’m prepared. Not only do I have several puffer coats, but I have this cozy long down puffer vest. It has been a godsend. I’ve been wearing it to yoga and work–it’s the perfect top layer to take the chill out of your bones. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the longer length, considering I’m short, but it fits perfectly and not to mention, it keeps my booty warm. In addition to layers, it’s important to keep that noggin cozy. Which is why I invested in yet, another faux fur mom beanie. Instead of sticking to my neutral norm, I went bold and picked up this coral/pink color. It adds the perfect pop to any outerwear look.

P.S. If you’re in the North Jersey area, aka Morris County, stop by Ladyfingers to pick one of your own up!

STRONGER TOGETHER & WARMER WITH SWEATERS

dsc_0735editeddsc_0770editeddsc_0736editeddsc_0787editeddsc_0793editedDetails: Turtleneck Marled Batwing Sweater c/o DressLily, here | H&M winter white skirt, similar here |

It has been difficult to get motivated lately, these past few days have been trying, to say the least. There is so much hate in this country right now and I can’t help but feel a bit frustrated and hopeless. I don’t mean to be negative, but it’s difficult to stay calm and sane when every 15 minutes someone is posting an obnoxious status maintaining and feeding into the division of this country. While we are all trying to make sense what is going on, I ask that you bare in mind something we constantly quoted after 9/11: united we stand, divided we fall. We are stronger when we stick together as one nation. If nothing else, think of the children in this country who don’t have a voice yet. We are fighting for them. So get up, dust yourself off and show them just how great America is and always has been. Show them that love wins every single time and that you can do anything with a little bit of faith and a lot of hard work. As for keeping yourself sane and calm, enjoy the little things in life: hugs from your family, sharing laughs with your besties and even cuddling up in a cozy sweater on a fall day. Keep telling yourself: we are stronger together and warmer with sweaters. See! I know that made you giggle–just a little bit.

And FYI, this marled batwing sweater from DressLily has been my saving grace these past few days. Its wide sleeves actually enable you to cuddle with yourself–literally. Keep it classy, America, we have some work ahead of us.
