BETTY COOPER, HERE

Details: Romwe Pearl Embellished Puff Sleeve Blouse, here | Joyci Diamond Pearl Faux Peter Pan collar, here | Zara pleated white trousers, similar here |

Those who know me well, know my obsession with CW’s Riverdale. Honestly, at first, I refused to watch it because I assumed it would be stupid/cheesy, and it is definitely a little on the cheesy side, but I love the cast and the thriller-ish storyline. It’s a feel-good show with relatable characters and I consider it my guiltiest and almost unhealthiest pleasure. So, last night, for the premiere, I had a few of my friends over to watch and host a Pop’s Diner themed get-together. It included goodies like homemade cheeseburger slider, crockpot mac and cheese, corn dogs and crinkle fries. The food was delicious, and the premiere did not disappoint. My favorite character, Betty Cooper is experiencing some craziness and I can’t wait to see what the next episode holds. I love Betty Cooper’s girl next door demeanor and classic girly style. It’s simple, fresh and classic. One of her classic outfits consists of a pink sweater with a collar, jeans, and white sneakers. Inspired by this, I decided to create an outfit that perhaps the modern day Betty would wear. The pearl top is form fitting and comfortable with puff sleeves, the faux collar is actually a good ole’ fashioned dickey that is secured under your shirt or sweater and over your undergarments. It’s a great way to add some oomph to a simple sweater or top. These trousers are a staple of mine and they’re pretty old from Zara, but they are super comfortable and fit well. Instead of white sneaks, I decided to add some height with these nude suede pumps–voila! I think Betty Cooper would be proud.

And if you don’t like Riverdale and/or haven’t watched it, I’m sorry. But if you’re looking for a good binge-worthy show, I highly recommend it!

GUEST OF THE WEDDING WEAR

Details: Nordstrom Topshop Tie Front Minidress, sold out here, but similar here, here and… this isn’t similar, but I love this | Tommy Hilfiger Zappos suede heels, here |

I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful wedding this weekend and after seeing some of this year’s wedding fashions in person, I got to thinking about what’s appropriate to wear to a wedding. Things have changed, people seem to be less tied to tradition and I believe the rules of what guests can/should wear to a wedding have changed a bit. Listen, I don’t think that people should be attending a wedding dressed in white with a tiara, but do I think you can get away with ivory, floral with white accents and cream colors? Yes, yes I do. Newsflash! There is no possible way you will upstage the bride unless you decide to wear a wedding dress to a wedding that’s not yours, which would be super strange and inappropriate.  Now, just because I think neutral whites are fine to wear to a wedding doesn’t mean others do. I always feel like dressing modestly, but with some sass is the way to go (save your deep v-necks and high slits for a night out with your beau). Which is why I am SO in love with this dress. It has a beautiful modest sleeve and the tie knot in front is surprisingly flattering. The sass factor of this dress is definitely the length. It’s called a mini dress for a reason! I’m only 5’1″ so the length of this dress wasn’t a factor for me, but I do think it could look really short on someone who is 5’5″ and up. To give you some context, when I bent down I felt like a brisk breeze. Unfortunately, this dress is currently sold out, but I did link to some similar styles and I also included a super cute dress that I just happen to love. There is a possibility it will be restocked so stay tuned!

BEST OF BLAZER 2017

Details: Target plaid boyfriend blazer, here | H&M ivory skirt, similar here

I love a good blazer and I’m also partial to oversized garments, so you can imagine how excited I was when I received this grey blazer for my birthday. Whether it’s a pair of boyfriend jeans or a chunky knit, and I can live in it, it has to be mine! When I first styled this blazer I paired it with high waisted black denim pants and a black shirt…super classic and the comfortable option. But when I decided to style it again, I really wanted to be a little less predictable. I slipped on this H&M ivory skirt, the same black top and slid on my OTK black suede boots–can you say perfection? I love the longer length of this blazer because it allows you to pair it with a dress, skirt AND your favorite denim pants. Neutral colors are my thing so the fact that this blazer is black, white and grey makes it easy to pair with a variety of colors. You can go bold with a vibrant red or soft with ivory or black–the options are limitless. Not only does this blazer look great, but it’s super comfortable and almost feels like a cozy cardigan instead of a blazer.

That being said, I think it’s safe to say this will be a timeless staple for many fall/winter seasons to come.

THE DRESS FOR EVERY OCCASION

Details: Lauren Ralph Lauren Off-the-Shoulder striped dress c/o Macy’s, here |

I don’t think I’ve acquired enough off-the-shoulder clothing this summer…seriously. I just can’t get enough of baring my shoulders! Regardless of if it’s a romper, top or dress, I’m not picky. If my shoulders are bare and it looks cute, consider it in my closet. So you can understand that when I saw this Lauren Ralph Lauren navy/white striped off-the-shoulder dress, I was eager to get my hands on it. First of all, it’s cotton, making it super easy to dress up with a sleek pony and statement earrings, or dress down with loose waves and a fresh face…the options are endless. I’m a fan of nautical style; it’s timeless and sophisticated. I added a pop of color and on-trend twist with these yellow on-trend drop earrings. In fact, I love them so much that I have them in several colors; I literally couldn’t help myself. If you’re looking for a dress to get you through copious summer barbecues, bridal showers and/or weekend girls nights out, this is the one for you. It’s available now at Macy’s and you know you still have a ton of statements to make this summer!

ROMPERS: THE NEVER-ENDING SUMMER TREND

Details: LOFT Tassled Off-the-Shoulder Romper, here | Rockport Cobb Hill Tropez High Vamp, here  |

Rompers are a girl’s best friend once the warm weather rolls around. They’re undeniably comfortable and you don’t have to worry about a summer breeze exposing you or being conscious of how you sit. And we all know that in addition to the romper trend, the off-the-shoulder trend is just as popular right now. Like I said last year: “shoulders are the new cleavage”, and it remains to be true this year too. OFTS tops share just enough skin to be sexy while allowing you to remain modest and classy. Although I’m known for going for bold colors and patterns when it comes to rompers, I love that this one is black and can be easily dressed up or down. Lately, I’ve been on an earring kick and have been popping in some color that way. However, if casual is more your speed, throw on your favorite pair of flip flops and stroll on down to the beach–the options are endless. So, does anyone need more reason to go out and get your romper on? I didn’t think so.

MORE SUN HATS LESS SUNBURNS

DSC_0720edited 2DSC_0723 LRDSC_0713edited LRjpgDSC_0760editedDSC_0754edited 2DSC_0753 LRDetails: Chambray Sun Hat c/o J.Jill, here | Peek-a-boo shoulder top from Marshalls, similar here |

No matter what I do, when I go to the beach for the first time of the season, my scalp gets burnt. I usually carry a ratty worn baseball cap, or get creative and tie a shirt around my head, but that’s just not cute. I’ve started to take the sun seriously. Skin cancer runs in my family and I haven’t been so kind to my skin over the years. My high school years were spent at the tanning salon (hello, I’m from New Jersey), and I often wore the absolute minimum SPF while crisping my skin. I wisened up (a little) when I went to college, and now I wear nothing less than 30 SPF. I’ve also become very conscious of my scalp because it’s hard to see the damage that’s being done. Now that I have this cute and comfortable chambray sun hat from J.Jill, I don’t have to worry about looking silly while I’m spending the day outside enjoying the sun. As for my all white look, I broke out last year’s Banana Republic white denim wide leg pants and I picked up this cold shoulder top from Marshall’s. It’s actually a body suit, which makes it even more amazing. You don’t have to worry about it become untucked or looking out of place–it’s one of my favorite new purchases!  Now, it’s your turn to pick up a cute sun hat, slather on the SPF and put a classic all white look together, it is spring after all.

SHIRTDRESS SEASON

DSC_0346edited.jpg LRDSC_0348edited.jpg LRDSC_0367edited LRDSC_0398edited LRDSC_0413edited.jpg LR

Details: Linen Shirtdress c/o J.Jill, here |

I probably have as many shirt dresses as I have socks. I can never have enough and I like them because not only are they classic, but they can be dressed up or down. This dress from J.Jill is not only on one of my favorite colors, but it’s super style-able. I layered a sweater vest over it and I like it because it breaks up the sometimes overwhelming stripes. Fortunately, there is no more snow in the forecast, so I will be able to style this the way it’s intended to be styled…with sandal wedges–of course! I can’t wait for 70-degree weather next week, I’m currently dusting off my shirtdresses and sleeveless tops.

MOM, DO YOU LIKE THIS?

DSC_0193edited LRDSC_0237EDITED LRDSC_0225edited lrDSC_0206edited.jpg LRDSC_0250edited LRDSC_0253edited LRDetails: Ann Taylor Stripe Pleated Cuff Blouse, similar here | Ann Taylor  Petite Wide Leg Marina Pants, here |

Nine times out of ten whenever I buy something new, my mom says: “Oh I had something just like that.” And I’m always like great, why did you ever give it away!?! I always ask my mom for style advice, because she kills it in the style department. She’s petite but is never afraid to try a trend. I’m the same way; I really don’t have a genre of my style. I mean, some may disagree, but I wear what I like and to be honest, I think it’s super juvenile for people to bucket a person into a specific style genre. That’s dumb. I always hear girls say stupid things like: “she was wearing this flannel shirt, leggings and uggs– so basic.” And I laugh to myself because, shit, I wear that and I don’t think I’m “basic.” What is basic? And maybe I am, but I certainly do not care what anyone thinks of my style, except maybe my mom. It’s true. I can’t remember a time where I gave two sh**s about what people thought of my clothes. See, when you’re comfortable with what you’re wearing it shows and people either love it or hate it. How confident you are will determine how your “haters” react. So, chin up! Even if your outfit isn’t something that someone else would wear themselves, they’ll still respect you. This outfit is bold for me. While I love wide leg pants, it’s hard for me to find the right ones because I’m super short. These wide leg pants from Ann Taylor are available in petite sizes, so they fit perfectly and they’re super comfortable. I’m excited to break them in this spring–whenever that’s coming. They’re a great alternative to shorts for work and the warmer months. I paired it with this funky 70s inspired pleated cuff blouse; I  love everything about it. It’s so different and it makes any solid color bottom look stunning. If you’re already a bold stylista, stay bold and if you’re not, then get your bold on. Oh and only listen to what your mom says. Moms always tell the truth and they know what looks good but if your mom doesn’t, call mine!

K. I’VE HAD ENOUGH.

DSC_0283editedDSC_0282editedDSC_0293editedDSC_0311editedDSC_0310editedDSC_0303editedDSC_0301editedDSC_0318EDITED

Details: Easy Linen and Cotton Pullover c/o J.Jill, here | H&M short trench/overcoat, similar here |

There are so many changes happening at work and I’ve been getting antsy with this terrible weather we’ve been having; it feels like senioritis. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to kick my puffy winter coat, but that hasn’t stopped me from shopping around for cute lightweight trenches and overcoats. It all started when I was an hour early to my hair appointment that happened to be located in Boston’s biggest shopping destination: Newbury Street. I decided to kill time and walk across the street to H&M, when I came across this cream colored minimalist beauty. I had to try it on, just to see. I had no intention of making a purchase, but if the shoe fits! Am I right? I picked it up, put it down. Picked it up again, and clung to it when I saw other shoppers eyeing it. That’s it! I was sold. And I am not disappointed–it has been one of my favorite spring season purchases thus far. I layered it over a simple blue J.Jill pullover, allowing it to pop and what can I say, blue is my color. This sweater is one of my favorites because it hangs just in the right place, above my waist. It’s linen and cotton, making it airy and easy to wear in the warmer months (whenever they decide to show up). While I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring weather, I’m making due with cute staples like these. Don’t you worry, bank account there will be many more spring purchases to be had!

CASUAL IN COUTURE

DSC_0040editedDSC_0047editedDSC_0042editedDSC_0037editedDSC_0084DSC_0086DSC_0068 2DSC_0069 2Details: Ann Taylor animal print overcoat (old), similar here | Thierry Rabotin Princeton couture pumps, similar here |

Remember when I was talking about how we were going to reach 60-degrees this weekend and I was all like: “YAY! spring is finally here for good. No more winter.” Remember that? Well apparently Mother Nature was not too happy with my excitement because the weather this Saturday went from 60-degrees down to 46-degrees, AND it’s supposed to snow. NO. I actually wore the most spring-like outfit on Monday and now I’m digging back in my closet for some cozy knits and coats. Since the cold hasn’t arrived yet, I’ve been able to pull out my lighter coats like this black and white animal print one from Ann Taylor. It’s an oldie but goodie and I love that I can wear it anything. It really has the ability to make a simple outfit stand out. AND you may notice that I’m bearing some skin in the footwear department. That’s because I recently got my hands on this Thierry Rabotin couture pumps. They’re not only super comfortable, but they glitter as I walk. They’re like an adult version of the light-up sneakers I used to have when I was a kid. They too have the ability to bring any outfit to the next level. As you can see, I paired them with this casual chic look and it instantly looks ultra sophisticated. It’s important to have pieces like these in your arsenal; they make mixing and matching fun and easy.
