There are so many changes happening at work and I’ve been getting antsy with this terrible weather we’ve been having; it feels like senioritis. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to kick my puffy winter coat, but that hasn’t stopped me from shopping around for cute lightweight trenches and overcoats. It all started when I was an hour early to my hair appointment that happened to be located in Boston’s biggest shopping destination: Newbury Street. I decided to kill time and walk across the street to H&M, when I came across this cream colored minimalist beauty. I had to try it on, just to see. I had no intention of making a purchase, but if the shoe fits! Am I right? I picked it up, put it down. Picked it up again, and clung to it when I saw other shoppers eyeing it. That’s it! I was sold. And I am not disappointed–it has been one of my favorite spring season purchases thus far. I layered it over a simple blue J.Jill pullover, allowing it to pop and what can I say, blue is my color. This sweater is one of my favorites because it hangs just in the right place, above my waist. It’s linen and cotton, making it airy and easy to wear in the warmer months (whenever they decide to show up). While I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring weather, I’m making due with cute staples like these. Don’t you worry, bank account there will be many more spring purchases to be had!

CASUAL IN COUTURE

Remember when I was talking about how we were going to reach 60-degrees this weekend and I was all like: “YAY! spring is finally here for good. No more winter.” Remember that? Well apparently Mother Nature was not too happy with my excitement because the weather this Saturday went from 60-degrees down to 46-degrees, AND it’s supposed to snow. NO. I actually wore the most spring-like outfit on Monday and now I’m digging back in my closet for some cozy knits and coats. Since the cold hasn’t arrived yet, I’ve been able to pull out my lighter coats like this black and white animal print one from Ann Taylor. It’s an oldie but goodie and I love that I can wear it anything. It really has the ability to make a simple outfit stand out. AND you may notice that I’m bearing some skin in the footwear department. That’s because I recently got my hands on this Thierry Rabotin couture pumps. They’re not only super comfortable, but they glitter as I walk. They’re like an adult version of the light-up sneakers I used to have when I was a kid. They too have the ability to bring any outfit to the next level. As you can see, I paired them with this casual chic look and it instantly looks ultra sophisticated. It’s important to have pieces like these in your arsenal; they make mixing and matching fun and easy.

PINK OVERLOAD

DSC_0004 (2)DSC_0008DSC_0040DSC_0043DSC_0057DSC_0059 2DSC_0068Details: Brushed-Twill Hooded jacket c/o J.Jill, here | Superga Carnation-Print Sneakers c/o J.Jill, here | Tri-Pearl Choker and Love Drop necklace c/0 Beadly Designs, here and here  |

Another Valentine’s Day in the books! We didn’t plan anything and ended up going out to dinner, but it was a really great time. We share a lot of laughs and enjoyed some delicious food. It’s funny that I have all of this pink clothing and I didn’t wear ANYTHING pink on Valentine’s Day. To make up for my lack of pink on the pinkest day of the year, I’m sharing a pinked out ensemble. I layered this Brushed-Twill Hooded jacket over a white tee and slipped on some boyfriend jeans and these super vibrant Superga carnation-print sneakers–how fun! I was really excited to style this outfit because it got me in the mood for spring clothing. After this most recent blizzard, I’d be happy if I never saw my snow boots again.  I can’t wait to wear light-weight jackets like this one and not have to wear socks–spring, where are you? I love this jacket because it’s cuter than your typical windbreaker but more casual than a trench. It will be perfect for cool nights walking to yoga and breezy days strolling Castle Island. Now, I don’t feel so bad for not wearing pink on Valentine’s Day. I’ll be sure to wear enough pink for the both of us!

THE TEDDY BEAR SWEATER

So I was perusing Instagram when I came across this Clad & Cloth ‘Desperado’ sweater. My thumb froze and I knew I had to get my hands on it. However, to my dismay it was SOLD OUT, so I emailed CC and waited patiently for it to be restocked and as soon as it did I completed my check out before it was gone. Honestly, I never thought I could love an oversized cozy sweater more than this one. When I’m wrapped up in this beauty it feels as though I’m being cuddled in a warm itch free blanket. The only wardrobe roadblock I’ve come across is deciding what color pants to wear. My good ole’ blue jeans make me feel like I’m emulating Oscar The Grouch, so I decided to stick with black denim or black leggings. I’d say this looks pretty perfect, don’t you think? I suppose you could also incorporate a tan/beige pant if you’re looking to add some brightness. I think I’ve actually met my match with  this one. When my lips are chapped, my skin is dry, and I’m dreading waking up for work I throw ‘Desperado’ on and I’m instantly inside the arms of a cuddly teddybear; not to mention it cures the Monday blues like nothing else. Get bundling… a storm is on its way!
