SWEATY AND (NOT SO) SEXY WITH 305 FITNESS

Hi! Happy Monday. I know it’s the least favorite day of the week, but like they say (not exactly sure who, but someone said it): “A Sunday well spent, brings a week of content.” This Sunday, I had the opportunity to participate in a super fun cardio dance party workout, known as 305 Fitness. It’s funny. Prior to getting the opportunity to review a class, I was actually searching the Boston area for fun dance-like classes to take. I’ve always loved to dance and was never an athlete, so I guess you can say dancing was my sport of choice. There’s something about feeling the rhythm in the music and moving your body in a way that expresses the song, ultimately bringing it to life–I LOVE it. I was introduced to 305 Fitness and it seemed like the perfect fit. It is literally like going out to the club, live DJ and everything. The only difference is that there is an awesome toning exercise in between dancing your asses off.  The newly opened studio in Boston (506 Commonwealth Avenue), is inspired by the vibrant Miami nightlife, with bright colors, palm trees, a grass wall, inspiring and adorable sayings, it’s the most instagrammable workout studio I’ve ever encountered. The instructor was a ball of energy and lived up to their tagline of “Make Sweat Sexy.” She absolutely did, but I’m not sure I achieved that…sweaty, yes…sexy? That’s TBD. Details about the studio below. Scroll away!

There’s a cardio sprint at the beginning of class and then there’s a hip-hop portion halfway through (my favorite part!). Ladies, take this as an important reminder…LOL ^^^

The bathrooms and showers are labeled with adorable sayings ^^ and include their main mission: Make Sweat Sexy…duh!

My friend Linnea and I decided to check out the studio well before our class started…mostly to take photos like this one. Hello! You know you would do it too. I also decided that I need a shower room like this one. Totally feeling ourselves before class. Mission accomplished, 305 Fitness!

Checking myself out and preparing for a sexy sweaty session that I would come to find out would make my legs feel like jello and my arms like lead…YES.

The entrance to class is an INCREDIBLE grass wall that you’re crazy not to snap a photo of, with a floor painted with the saying: “Know your worth. Then add tax.” SO true and again, super inspiring and motivating.

A studio filled with mirrors, every vain blogger’s dream…am I right? This brand new studio is BEAUTIFUL and the instructor let us in on a little secret: If you think you’re hiding by taking up space in the back, you’re wrong. The middle is the safest place. All four sides of the room are used, and at some point, you will be in the front of the class…unless you’re in the middle LOL.

Oh did I forget to mention that there’s a live DJ in every class?! That’s right! It’s legit like going to a nightclub. The lights get low, the music is loud and everyone starts to feel the beat–it’s awesome!

And just wanted to remind you ^^. That’s also what I really enjoyed about my experience with 305 Fitness. The instructor expressed self-love, taking care of yourself, believing in yourself, loving your body the way it is and letting go. I felt more inspired, motivated and nourished in this upbeat sweaty class than I have ever felt in any of my go-to yoga classes. So if you’re looking for something new or just want to let loose and dance, find your local 305 Fitness and…Make Sweat Sexy ;).

ONE-PIECES FTW

Details: (old) Kate Spade floral one-piece via Marshalls, see similar styles below | Time and Tru via Walmart White Tie-Front Cover-up below |

It’s hard to believe that July is nearly over, which means summer is almost over. Why does it feel like the winter lasts for far too long and summer is so short and sweet? I’ve spent the majority of my summer on the beach, and I plan to do so for as long as possible. Last summer, I bought so many bathing suits that I didn’t feel the need to buy so many this summer. One of my favorites is this Kate Spade pink floral suit that I scored at Marshall’s last year. Can you say AMAZING find!? I’ve recently started loving one-pieces, the only problem is I like to get my stomach tan since it barely ever sees the light of day. I wear one-pieces when I feel like like I’ve gotten too much sun the day prior, and I’m ready to give some part of my body a break from the rays.

I genuinely miss the days where I would walk around the beach with my belly out, beach pail in hand and not a care in the world. I also miss when my 9 to 5 job consisted of combining just the right amount of wet sand with just the right amount of dry sand to create as many meatballs as possible. Now, my beach activities consist of reading as many books as possible, soaking up all rays possible and drinking a pina colada…oh AND this only happens on the weekend…not 9 to 5, Monday through Friday.

What are you most comfortable wearing to the beach and what are some of your favorite beach past times?!

DON’T JUDGE A TREND BY ONE LOOK

Details: Almond green bomber jacket Marshall’s, similar here | Embroidered weekender jeans c/o J.Jill, here |

I’ll admit, I really wasn’t a fan of the bomber jacket trend. Not the traditional bomber jacket, but the lightweight bomber ones. There was something about them that I couldn’t take seriously. It was an episode of Southern Charm where Chelsea was wearing this really cute metallic blush bomber jacket, that I said I NEED one. I went to so many stores, scoured the internet for something similar but there was nothing. I actually gave up and quit my search until I walked into Marshall’s and stumbled upon this Kensie almond green bomber jacket with black trim. It’s shiny–not exactly metallic, but it’s perfect. The weather has been so ideal for light bomber jacket weather, so you can imagine how much I’ve been wearing it. Then, there were embroidered jeans: another trend I really couldn’t get behind. I don’t know what it was about them that I didn’t like. I guess I kind of felt like they were tacky and outdated (not in a good way). Again, I was wrong. It just took the right embroidered jeans to change my mind. These Weekender jeans from J.Jill have blue and green stem flowers, making it understated and classy. I feel like when there’s a really bold color flower it’s difficult to style, but these go with everything. They”re super versatile and a really fun way to change up your wardrobe in the fall months. I guess I need to take my own advice and not judge a trend by one or two looks… you have to try it out for yourself.

What trends were you wrong about?

REVAMP THE OLD WITH ACCESSORIES

Details: Express Deep V Pink top, similar here | Charming Charlie The Austin earring, here |

I had the best vacation week last week! It was sunny nearly every day, I read a total of four books and I was with my two favorites: mom and dad. Although it has been difficult to get back to work, I’m pleasantly surprised at how fast this week is going…it’s Wednesday already! With these steamy temps, I’ve been resorting to sleeveless tops and bare leg. One of my recent favorite tops is this flowy pink deep V top. It’s comfortable and simple. In an effort to protect my bank account, I’ve been purchasing fun earrings to make some of my older tops feel new. Even though this top is a newbie to my closet, I decided to take things up a notch and accessorize with this colorful complementary 3-ball earrings from Charming Charlie. I love these earrings so much that I purchased them in a couple other colors. What!?!? I’m still saving, they were only $12 (blushing). Cheers to hump day and saving money! Instead of collecting new tops and dresses, revamp your oldies but goodies with some fun accessories. Trust me, you’ll look at your older clothes in a whole new way.

SUMMER UNIFORM

Details: Marshalls Printed Cover-up dress, similar here, here and here | Dansko Demetra Sandal in Taupe, here |

Summertime and the living is easy–am I right? I’m so excited for beach days and minimal thought into clothing. Don’t get me wrong, I love putting together outfits and wearing “thoughtful” looks, but there’s nothing better than wearing a bathing suit and lightweight cover-up. I went to Marshalls with the sole intent of buying photo frames for my desk at work; obviously, that didn’t work out because this blue beauty caught my eye. I really love this cover-up because I fully intend on wearing it as a dress as well. It’s modest enough to wear out to dinner, but it’s loose and lightweight enough to face the summer heat on the beach. The only thing is, I would have to wear shorts and perhaps a cami underneath since it’s a little transparent. This weekend is supposed to be hot and humid so you can be sure that this is exactly what I’ll be sporting! What are your plans to beat the heat this weekend!?

P.S. I know how frustrating it is to see something from Marshalls and not be able to purchase it, but I did my best to try and find some similar options for you guys.

THE HEAT MADE ME DO IT

Details: LOFT Pleated Duet Dress, here | DSW two-toned sandals, similar here |

I recently went on a shopping binge at LOFT and came across this flowy pleated dress. The heat made me do it! It was so hot last week, and I was in desperate need of cute dresses and lightweight tops to keep me from getting heat stroke. It was basically prescribed by my doctor. It’s too late now anyway, the damage is done and I have some new summer clothes to show for it. Lately, the LOFT has been surprising me. I used to never think twice about walking in there because everything always seemed to be boxy and ill-fitting. I don’t know what they’ve been doing lately, but keep it! Not only do have they offer on-trend styles but the fit seems to be much more accurate. Plus, they have an awesome petite section so I’m able to pull off a mid-length dress like this because they offer it in petite–score! I’ve noticed lately, in my old age that the quality of your clothing means more than quantity, but having a lot of quality clothes is always better–I can’t help myself! I wish that we were experiencing that unseasonable heat this week, so I can rock this dress. It’s one that I would wear two days in a row–it’s that good! So, the lesson of the day: if you haven’t been into LOFT in a while, or ever because you thought it was outdated or ill-fitting, go on and stop in; I guarantee that you’ll find something you just have to have.
